24 Makes Up for Lost Time This Fall
Kiefer Sutherland in 24 by Kelsey McNeal/Fox
The producers of 24 on Wednesday began securing cast members for a two-hour movie that will air in the fall and bridge the prolonged, strike-induced gap between Seasons 6 and 7. The "prequel," as the Reporter is terming it, will effectively set the stage for the show's January 2009 return.
What's the title going to be, "2"?
Production on the Washington, D.C.-based Season 7, which had eight episodes in the can before the work stoppage hit, will resume in April.

very cool news as I was under the impression we wouldnt get a 24-fix till Jan '09. As long as there are no cougar attacks in the movie I am all for it.

Hey I'd settle for the whole 2 hours to be nothing BUT cougar attacks so long as the victims were Kim, Jacks neph-son, his sister-in-law and the writers responsible for last season.

Well it better be an awesome 2 hour movie because it is going to be a hard sale to get people back like they had. Me being one of them. For a show to take a 20 month hiatus and come back like nothing has happened? It will be tough.
The only show to do that? The Sopranos and it was 18 months and on HBO.

Hey, I think it's a good idea. Battlestar Galactica did the same thing and it gave fans a little something to wet their appetite between the long season hiatus. I'll watch it!

YES! I'll take anything of 24 I can get. This will be awesome. BUT! This had better not be the 24 movie they've been wanting to do. I want to be able to go into a movie theater someday and watch 24 in it.

Yawn, more implausible scenarios and overacted melodramatics. Let's wrap this series up and move on to something more realistic like "Threat Matrix" once brought.

A great idea! The movie is an added treat, for 24 has such a series of loyal fans that we would wait indefinitely for the next series, no matter how bad last season was. For some, it is almost a religious following. Not quite that way with me, but I am certainly a loyal part of the fan base for ... the Power of Bauer!

HEY THERE, JKMUNRO. I FEEL YOUR PAIN...MY CAPS-LOCK HAS BEEN STUCK FOR AWHILE, TOO. I'VE TRIED TO WORK ON IT TO FREE IT UP, BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK. YOU KNOW, I'M INSPIRED TO GIVE IT ONE MORE GO. HOLD ON...GRUNTGRRDANGSCREWDRIVER. WHew, there we go. Ahhh, much better.
I'm looking forward to "24 minus 22," also.

"Prequel"? Maybe for the production staff. Not for us. If we saw the next season, THEN this movie, perhaps. But this is a regular sequel. A two-hour sequel. Honestly now, Hollywood Reporter!
