24 Clocks Back In November 23 with "Prequel"

Oh yeah — 24! Fox has set a Nov. 23 air date for the two-hour movie that will bridge the gap between Days 6 and 7. Filmed partially on location in South Africa, the "prequel" finds Jack Bauer battling an international crisis (yea!), while back home, the United States prepares to inaugurate a new president.

"We're excited about the prequel because it explores Jack's complex emotional state of mind and still has all the signature excitement and suspense that fans have come to expect from 24," says executive producer Howard Gordon. "Shooting in South Africa affirms everyone’s commitment to making this season especially memorable for our fans."

The plan for Day 7, which was first detailed many months and one long strike ago, seems rather intact, with all of the new or returning cast members still on board. That includes (spoiler alert) Carlos Bernard (as Tony Almeida), Cherry Jones (President Allison Taylor), Colm Feore (First Gentleman Henry Taylor), John Billingsley (security specialist Michael Latham) and "FBI agents" Janeane Garofalo, Annie Wersching, Jeffrey Nordling and Rhys Coiro. Chloe and Bill are still around, too, though CTU isn't.

What's your take? Can you endure another six months of this Bauer outage? — MWM

I guess it will not be in the normal format since that would be kinda silly for a two hour deal. I guess they finally got to make there movie just not how they planned.

Since Garofalo is in it I won't be watching the world citizen or 24 this year.

Eventually, John Billingsley will have appeared on every TV show that's on the air. Not that that's a bad thing.

You know what? If it comes back fine, if not fine. It's been off the air too long. It's hard to get back into a program when it's gone for so long.

As long as they do right by 24, I can wait. I'm a little geeked out by the 2-hour "movie" since I've been a staunch advocate of the 24-hour concept from the very beginning and not willing to accept any other concept. But if this fills in some gaps and makes for a better Day 7, then fine. I just hope they have a 24 hour story arc for Day 7 and follow it. No more making it up as they go along. It's what killed Day 6 and almost killed the show. Lots of new characters so this fresh start will be good, too. I'm hoping that the return of Tony isn't cringe-inducing (like the return of Bobby Ewing was on Dallas). I'm a huge 24 fan; I can forgive a lot. But don't make me wait this long and then give me crap. Make me feel like I did when watching Day 1...excited, awed, and amazed!

craziecrafter: I don't get that sort of thinking. I guess if you're not much of a fan, then I can see your point. But if you really like a show...I mean a "watch it every week, record it to watch again later, buy the DVDs, miss not having it on the air...damn writer's strike" type of fan...then who cares how long it's been gone as long as it's coming back? In 24's case, it's a shame that Day 6 was so weak that there are probably a lot of people who do think like you. That's why I'm hoping that Day 7 will be vintage 24...get back to the good stuff that made it great. But, either way, I'm watching no matter what. But then, I'm a fan. Maybe you're not so much...???

Hallelujah! It's about time! I can't remember a time when I actually looked forward to a cold month such as November. But, knowing that I will again be able to see 24, has me truly jumping for joy. It's been a long, dry spell without Jack Bauer saving the country from yet another crisis a day's timeframe.

Now I must find some other activity to keep me from pulling out the remaining strands of hair I have!

Janeane Garofalo???? What in heaven's name are they thinking? I'm hoping she gets knocked off in the first episode cause she'll be a distraction if she stays.

She doesn't have the acting chops for this show IMHO... :)

But otherwise...........YEAH! 24 IS BACK!

Boy, it surprises me people are shocked - all those casting deals were made and announced before the strike.

I will be there whenever it airs. I can wait a long time as long as I get Jack again. I would never not watch because of a casting decision because to me - why would I let that control what I do or think? Seems silly IMO.

I have to wait until the actual show to see Ever Carradine in 24? I cannot wait that long. That's how much longer after the movie?

Wait, just a month or two?

There's a movie to "tide us over" for just over a month? And this movie was retro-fitted to the already-filmed storyline? And then we'll be re-introduced to all the characters all over again in the season premiere?

Oh yes, Matt. I am ECSTATIC. [/sarcasm]

I wonder if Carlos Bernard will be appearing in the prequel movie? I always felt it was a mistake to kill
Tony(especially the way it was done!) so anyway they can bring him back I will be happy even if it turns out to be a dream. As a matter of fact although most people thought season 5 was one of the best next to 6 it was my least favorite!
