24 Clocks Back In with a Shocking Return

I will go out of my way not to blurt this out, lest someone castigate me for spoiling. But when Fox's 24 launches Season 7 on Jan. 13 and 14 with a two-night premiere, a familiar (though unexpected) face will put in an appearance. "With CTU dismantled, the show's setting moves to Washington, D.C., where Jack Bauer faces trial for his actions in the pursuit of justice," reads the Fox press release. "Bauer's day gets off to a shocking start when former colleague Tony Almeida (played by Carlos Bernard), last seen in Day 5, returns after being left for dead by a terrorist conspirator in CTU's infirmary."

Say wha?! "Tony's uncertain fate... left the door open for his return," explains exec producer Howard Gordon. "And since there was no silent clock at the conclusion of his last appearance — the 24 tribute to a major character's demise — we always kept this as a possibility." Indeed, it was widely rumored (and, I believe, perhaps even filmed) that Tony was to resurface in the final seconds of last season.

Wait until you-know-who finds out that wife Michelle herself is alive, and working as a chaplain at ER's County General!

NO WAY!!

I miss Tony on the show but that was at least a season ago. I mean, yay for more Carlos Bernard but really? I wish wish wish we could get Reiko back, though. :(

They never should have killed Tony off in the first place so I am happy to have him back. But it seems pretty ridiculous that he is back. 24 isn't Days of Our Lives.

Wow. The press release blurts out that piece of intel? I am shocked. I love Tony but without Michelle, it will still seem a bit empty. Too bad ER got Reiko first :(

I see that that stiff who played Jack's sonphew last season is going to be on CSI: Miami (Caruso's son???). He'll fit right in their as he has all the acting skills of Caruso and all the charisma of the corpses getting carved up by the coroner. On the upside we won't be burdened by this silly storyline next season on 24!

Personally, I love this news. Tony back on 24 is a godsend (even if his "resurrection" is completely illogical, I don't care. This is 24 we're talking about, afterall.)

Thanks for the scoop, Matt. Any word on how long Tony sticks around for? Is this a one-shot deal, or is he going to be a series regular?

Yahoo!!! Tony is back. They have killed off so many popular characters, its nice to get one back (even if it does smack of a Days of our Lives back-from-the-dead storyline!).

Daesey - you made me snort!:^O

Rod: I agree. I'm sitting here with a puzzled look on my face but this is 24...so...lol. It fits.

Happy. happy, happy :-D to have Tony back!

24 is a show that makes you suspend belief, so I'm not surprised Tony is coming back.

As much as I love Tony and hated them for killing him off, this to me is soap opera 101. I can't believe 24 would go there and I am really disappointed.

They really are desperate to lure viewers back after last season's trainwreck, aren't they? I think I just sprained my eye-rolling muscle. On the other hand, 24 is now officially goofyassed enough to have a crossover with Smallville.

I just KNEW there was a reason why there was no silent clock dedicated to Tony's "death." I had always believed he did not die! So glad to see he's returning! Now let's hope the writers/producers do something better with his character that his measly appearance in season 5.

Sounds like a good premise to start Season 7. It's nice to see there are actually consequences to Jack's actions. Although I doubt Jack will learn anything by it. You can take the agent out of CTU, but you can't take CTU out of the agent! Or something like that.
