ABC Rolls Out Its Spring Schedule

Following the other networks' announcements of their upcoming spring schedules, ABC has finally unveiled its plans for the post-strike return of its shows.

Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy return April 24, with each series airing five new episodes. To round out the Thursday-night knockout punch, execs are (as Ausiello first reported) placing Lost in the 10 pm/ET slot for at least five new episodes.

Desperate Housewives returns April 13 with five original episodes and a two-hour finale planned. DH's Sunday-night sibling, Brothers & Sisters, won't be back until the following Sunday and will only air four new episodes.

Samantha Who? and Boston Legal will return April 7 and April 8, respectively, each with six original episodes to air. Pushing Daisies, Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money will all return... next season.

I'll second the request - Lost finale one hour or two?

It's so odd, it seems like so many of these reporters are able to get in touch with the producers and find things out, yet still no answer to this question.

I agree with everyone else, I want a TWO hour LOST season finale. It would feel weird to just have one hour finale after having 2 hour finales for every other season...

On another note, the longer the period that private practice NOT ON AIR...I become happier :)

What seems to be clear is that we will get 5 more hours of Lost in addition to the 8 already filmed. Whether that means 3 episodes plus a 2 hour finale or 5 one-hour episodes doesnt matter much. It is still 5 hours total. They wont have time to film more unless they extend the season into the summer a bit (which I suppose is a possibility). Interestingly, if Greys and Ugly Betty air 5 more episodes starting April 24, they will extend the TV season by one extra day, past the end of sweeps, to May 22. May 21 is the "official" end of sweeps and the TV season.

Regarding Men In Trees, Jenny Bicks (Creator) says in her recent blog that they wont be making any more new episodes this season because they have enough to finish out the current season (11 unaired with re-premiere Wed Feb 27th @ 10pm). Hopefully, it will do well in the ratings and be renewed for a third season!

I am mad about the 10 oclock hour for Lost. That was a killer for me last season. I really like the 9 hour and the review of the previous week at 8.

I hear you, Atkinsyj. My mind turns off at 10:00 p.m. Even if I were able to stay up to watch Lost at 10:00 p.m., I would miss so much of it, I'd have to watch it again anyway. So I'll just be taping it as usual.
