Here's Our Two Cents on Quarterlife
Quarterlife by Elisabeth Caren/NBC
The when: The series makes its broadcast premiere on NBC Tuesday, Feb. 26. at 10 pm/ET. (Also see related story in Interviews & Features.)
Why watch?: If you want to see where original TV content is headed in the next few years, Quarterlife will be a perfect introduction. Developed for the Internet in eight-minute webisodes that began airing last November on MySpace, Facebook and Quarterlife.com (among other sites), Quarterlife explores the trials and angst of six twentysomethings in Los Angeles. Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick, who are known for their sensitive and accurate portrayals of characters from shows like thirtysomething and My So-Called Life (isn't that enough reason for you to watch?), have created a world of blogging, modern technology-savvy people that grow on you with each episode. If you're in your twenties (or remember them well), you'll be able to relate to Dylan and her unrequited love and crazy boss issues, Debra's unhealthy dependence on her family problems, Lisa's low self-esteem and binge-drinking episodes, or Jed's desire to do what makes him happy versus what will make him money. Hit any nerves yet? It did for us.
Who's who: Dylan is an associate editor at a flashy magazine, but she's anything but flashy. Actually, she's a mess. A pig-pen. She video-blogs on Quarterlife.com (a real social networking site created by the producers) about all her friends' secrets as well as her own. She's in love with Jed the budding filmmaker, but Jed is in love with Debra, the girl who still works for Daddy and is scared of her own shadow. Debra is in love with and dating Danny, Jed's filmmaking partner. Danny is a pig, and loves Debra but can't keep it in his pants. We also have Lisa, the bartender/wannabe actress/singer who is the sexy, self-destructive girl in the bunch. To round it out, we have Kevin, who lives in the basement and edits the boys' films... the resident geek/comic relief.
What's next: It all depends on how well viewers take to the show. Be sure to tune in!
Say what?!: Devon Gummersall, who played sweet Brian on MSCL, wrote two of the six episodes of Quarterlife, and his brother Josh is a producer on the show.
What do you say? Will you tune in to see Quarterlife on TV? And do you have any interest in exploring the website as well?

I watched the first episode at nbc.com because I was really interested in a show that was about people my own age. However this show is terrible. The writers think they are being realistic, but they are trying to hard and comes off as phony. I also since this show is supposed to be so "real" you would think they would include a minority character. Also the main character Dylan is THE MOST annoying character on tv. I thought Meredith on Grey's Anatomy was annoying but Dylan has completely eclipsed Mer. And at least Mer has had alot issues in her life. Dylan seems like she wouldn't be happy if didn't have anything to complain about. The show is really depressing too, thier apartment is dark and dreary and none of the actors are attractive, not even the girl who is supposed to be the sexy one. This show won't last more than a couple episodes.

No - won't be watching a bunch of 20 somethings that can't get their s**t together. Been there done that.

If I can remember tonight when I get home from work, I'll record this. Mostly because Cappy from Greek is in it. Speaking of greek, less than a month now til the premiere. I'm excited.
Also the main character Dylan is THE MOST annoying character on tv
I haven't watched any of this yet, but I'd be willing to bet that this is a lot more realistic than The-N's the best years. That is one of the worst shows I've ever seen. Not even 1 sympathetic character.

A show about whitebread, yuppie twenty-somethings? That's certainly never been done before!

I wonder how many of the people who are commenting are either in their 20s or have seen an episode of the show yet. It's a lot more realistic than the other shows out there for people my age, and while Dylan is annoying in the first episode, she actually becomes quite likable (unlike Meredith from Grey's). Most storylines are very realistic, and the acting is actually quite good. The issues they broach really are the issues I'm dealing with as a young twentysomething. I just think you guys should give this show a chance before accusing the characters of being whitebread yuppies or whatever...

I'll give it a chance, but I usually do find these shows to be completely unrealistic to what I deal with. I'm 25, and usually I'm disgusted with the total laziness and lack of motivation on shows like this. But I will give it a chance first. Maybe it will be different.

Hey, Erin Fox here, and I wrote this little ditty about Quarterlife.
I just want to say that even though some of this may seem a bit unreal or forced...GIVE IT TIME. I swear it will grow on you. And yes! Cappy from Greek is so cute! I love him!
Yes, Dylan is an annoying character... she can be grating but she also has a quieter more vulnerable side that you'll see down the line.
I really like the storyline with self-destructive Lisa. Seriously, I had many friends like her in my 20s and really cheered for her to get her sh-t together by the end of the series. In fact, I think her character has the fullest arc.
So, give it a shot, you may just find yourself hooked. Or you might want to hunt me down and make me suffer for suggesting such a show. Either way, post your opinions here!

My sympathies to all 20 somethings. Back in the day when they wrote about 30 year olds that was what the writers knew about.
Here they are lots older writting about 20 year olds who remind me of kids of about 16. Their memories of being 20 are unreal to say the least. Maybe it is OK for the internet in short spans of time but not for either a half hour or an hour show.
Supposidly two guys are going ape over a lady who is their age who can not keep her hair combed-that ear sticking out constantly was very distracting. Where was the director?
It just seems very amature hour. Keep it on the internet where it belongs.
Actually watched because heard on the View that NBC has little control-maybe it is needed.
Sorry guys but if it is in this same time slot when Boston Legal comes back they are toast.

I thought it was cute and I'm 34. I liked the characters but couldn't understand why those 2 guys are all over that 1 girl. She has nothing going for her and wasn't very attractive, maybe she gets a better personality in the next episode.
I liked Lisa and the whole Dylan loves Jed but he loves someone who doesn't love him thing. Unrequited love is the best kind of angst.
Anyone know were the woman who played Dylans boss Brittany is from? I know that chick from somewhere.
