Which Super Bowl Ads Scored, and Which Snored?
Did Justin Timberlake rock his Pepsi spot, or did the bubbly fall flat? Do the clydesdales still have some kick? Here's what we thought of this year's Super Bowl commercials. (You can also see which spots Matt Roush singled out here.)
The Best: Bud Light "Now with the ability to breathe fire." A visual laugh-riot! | Watch video
Diet Pepsi Max's "What Is Love" riff, featuring a Chris Kattan cameo (but no Will Ferrell. He's probably busy-ish). | Watch video
FedEx's "Carrier Pigeons": bad idea for a courier service, great idea for a commercial. | Watch video
Tide to Go's "Talking Stain" articulated everything we've ever felt about a distracting splotch on a shirt. | Watch video
Bill Frist and James Carville's "Buy Me a Coke." (Carville is on fire this year, following that 30 Rock cameo.) | Watch video
E*Trade's stock-savvy and spitting-up baby. | Watch video
The NFL's Super Ad, featuring Ephraim Salaam and Chester Pitts.
Jackie Moon (Will Ferrell) selling Bud Light. OK, maybe Ferrell isn't that busy. | Watch video
The Stewie and Underdog floats going after the Coke-bottle float. Now that'd get me to turn out for the Macy's parade! | Watch video
The Worst: Audi's Godfather reference. Like Matt Mitovich, I simply did not get it. | Watch video
G2's Derek Jeter spot. Does Jeter really care about calories? Really? | Watch video
CareerBuilder.com's spot with the heart jumping out of the woman's chest was totally creepy, you must admit.
Bud Light's cavemen inventing the wheel. (Um, haven't we had enough cavemen commercials by now? And TV series?) | Watch video
Ice Breakers' Carmen Electra fan meet-and-greet. And the point was...? | Watch video
Share in comments your thoughts on the commercials the good, the Bud and the ugly! Nina Hδmmerling Smith

OK, I'm at the laptop updating the homepage anyway, so I'll get the conversation started. Loved the Prison Break commercial, if only because it was interesting in an "insidery" way to see which cast members were available to appear in it.
The Audi commercial with the car part in the guy's bed (a la The Godfather)... I didn't get it.

For some reason, I'm loving all the ones with animals. I laughed really hard at the screaming squirrel (so glad it didn't get hit by the car), and I thought the "Rocky" themed Clydesdale/Budweiser one was pretty good.

ITA, "Screaming Squirrel" was funny — if only because just this morning one ran (succesfully!) under my car as I was en route to the gym. Sometimes they can be just so dumb.
I also liked the guys with the "cheese," "baguette" and "wine."

There is definitely something hilarious about squirrels, because I laughed just reading your post.
And I probably would have enjoyed the Justin Timberlake one a lot more had I not seen it several times already on YouTube...but that Andy Samberg cameo still got me.

I loved:
1. Bud Light's firebreather "do you have a cat?" 2. Diet Pepsi Max "What's Love" SNL spoof with the Chris Kattan cameo at the end. (but no WilL Ferrell?? BOOOO) 3. Bud Light's "cheese", "baguette" commercial 4. Bridgestone's AHHH with the screaming squirrel (and raccoon and deer and owl and...) 5. FedEx's "Carrier Pigeon" 6. Tide To Go's Talking Stain 7. Budweiser's dalmation training the clydesdales to the "Rocky" theme - AWESOME. Maybe my fave cuz I love dogs and horses 8. Life Water Naomi Cambell and lizards doing the "Thriller" dance. Jacko is Wacko but he made some AMAZING music. 9. Justin's pepsi 10. I also loved the NFL Network 'get your facts straight' 11. Doritos' mouse trap
Worst: 1. Salesgenie.com 2. underarmor.com 3. Doritos' "Message from your heart" girl. 4. Jeter/Manning 5. Go Daddy 6. Dell 7. cars.com
basically all the online ad ads sucked. LOL.

OK, I'm watching on DVR-delay and that Doritos ad with the giant mouse crashing through the wall was fun-ny.

The worst was the Audi commercial in the first quarter.

I was really disappointed with all the commercials, some were okay but overall i didn't think they were anything to write home about.

The best commercial BY FAR is the first eTrade commercial w/ the little kid explaining how easy it is to trade online - and then he spits up. As a father of 2, 1 who is still spitting up, it definitely hit home. Too funny...

Speaking of the e-trade tot. I loved the comment about (the clown) underestimating the "creepy" factor.

The bud commercials were funny, they are always a hoot!
The bridgstone commercials were funny especially the one with Richard Simmons at the end!! I was way more interested in the underwear gear then the actual commercial. And offense to all the american's out there but the decleration of independance at the beginning was somewhat over the top. Sorry.
The rest of the commercials were alright..

The E-Trade commercials with the baby were awesome, as were all the Bud Light commercials (especially the fire-breather and Will Ferrell).
Overall, I liked the ads, but there were some duds too.

Also, the Justin Timberlake ad made me laugh - if only because he has enough of a sense of humor to let himself be the butt of the joke. The groin shots were hysterical.
