Thanks for the tidbit on Supernatural Matt, it's sincerely appreciated.
Just to let you know, I'd be very willing to help out with applying sunscreen to Dean.

Thanks for the Supernatural scoop, Matt.
I'm okay with whatever Kripke has planned, but boy I have a feeling the boards are going to be buzzing about that last bit "severely effecting Dean's relationship with Sam."
Personally, I think, how could it not? And I'm eager to see how, but... sigh, there will be stones thrown Kripke. Duck, my man.

I'm more than happy to take one for the team and head to Hell or Purgatory or wherever with my bottle of Banana Boat to help Dean out.
I'm just selfless that way...

Could someone please elaborate on what the Supernatural scoop is?
Eric Kripke tells us that Dean will be cooling his heels in H-E-L-L for a long time, and that it will massively impact his relationship with Sam.

Thanks for that scoop, Matt! I know us SN fans have been craving some kind of Season 4 news to carry us through the summer.
Haha, it's funny to me that so many of the comments are SN fans when so much of the news was not about Supernatural at all - we're a lively internet bunch, aren't we?
I have to plead guilty to being one of the first to make the boards buzz with this news. I have always trusted Kripke, and I trust him now - but he's certainly making me sweat. Not as much as he's making Dean sweat but... you know how it is.
Anyways, thanks again! And here's hoping that Hell affects Dean and his brother for the better - somehow, in the end!

Oi. Long? Really? ... are we talking a time jump here in season 4, I wonder?
Bugger, this summer is going to be way too long. Thanks, Matt!

“To Supernatural fans already agonizing over last week’s finale, Eric Kripke tells us that Dean will be cooling his heels in hell for a long time and that his bond with Sam will be massively affected as a result.”
Kripke always loves to mess with our heads and be very cryptic about stuff. But if he thought last summer's RuBela reaction was bad, just wait until people start thinking that this means Sam will be solo for a long time and that Jensen won't be back full-time in full Dean mode by the end of the premiere. Or worse... it's a conspiracy by CW to make it the Sam & Ruby show!! T&A and sex, sex, sex all the time!! Even Bela will be back to join in for a threesome.
Seriously, Kripke, the finale was bad enough... don't do this to your fans. Because if they think that you have fallen off your rocker, they WON'T be joining you for S4 thinking that Jensen will just be a guest star in his own series and ratings will suffer as a result. There's not much wiggle room with those ratings... you can't afford jokes like this. Rethink the approach if you really want to get your 5 seasons and start putting a positive spin ASAP.
I'm just sayin' .....

Frankly, I am a LOT more worried about the 'massively impact' their relationship than I am about Dean being absent for an episode or two. And I don't think anything in what Kripke said points to Jensen being reduced to a semi-regular - it could just be that the time we wait for the show could be the same time passing in the Winchester world and when the first episode comes on, many months have passed. It surprises me that the reaction to the relationship being affected isn't bigger - the show is about the brothers and that is why I watch - for their RELATIONSHIP, not for either one and the amount of screen time they get

Being in this fandom for as long as I've been, I can only agree with everything said here.
I worry about how this will affect the boys relationship, but I worry about how the idea (even if mistaken) of a Dean-less or Dean-light season or episodes will affect the ratings.

I love Eric with all my heart and I usually trust him, but mess up the relationship between Dean and Sam? Turn Dean into a supernatural being? I'm sorry, but all that I can think and say is: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
