Will Whoopi Join The View?

Bye bye Rosie, hello Whoopi! TV Guide has learned from a source close to The View that Whoopi Goldberg is at the top of the wish list to fill one of the two empty seats on the chat show's depleted couch.

The departing Rosie O'Donnell says she loves the Whoopster, as do current co-hosts Elisabeth "I hope I stay forever" Hasselbeck and Joy Behar. Whoopi would fit the bill quite nicely: She's outspoken, funny, a woman of color, and already lives in New York — and scored high on TV Guide.com’s recent poll of possible Rosie replacements. No word yet, though, on how her asking price compares to Rosie's $10 million. (Whoopi's rep had no comment.)

Also on the chatfest’s dream team is Ricki Lake, but sources close to the actress/talk show host says she likes living in Los Angeles and has other projects in mind. — Reporting by Ileane Rudolph

Ricki can get her own Bling Bling.

Whoopi was one of the first I thought of when I heard Rosie was leaving. She is funny, opinionated, and would add a woman of color, which has been missing since Star left.

I would love to see Whoopi join The View. Too bad she doesn't seem that interested.

My vote is for Sherri Shepherd.

Doesn't Whoopi do a radio show in the mornings? Would she be willing to do both?

How about Tyra Banks, Marie Osmond, or Jenny McCarthy. All outspoken women with a brain.

Whoopi has been a great replacement each time I've seen her. She does the radio show first and then does The View, she's spoken of lack of sleep doing that. I've never found her edgy enough, however. Maybe if she were in the main seat it would change.

Whoopi was the last person I expected to fill Rosie's shoes Jenny McCarthy was great on the show and so is Rikki and Sherry Shepard. Whoopi is weird and really not entertaining!

I like the idea of Whoopi joining The View. While she's outspoken, it's in a different way then Rosie. She wouldn't get in trouble for some of the things she could say. ;)

I think Whoopi would be a great replacement for Rosie on The View. She isnt as annoying as Rosie is. However I also like the idea of Sheri Shepard as a co-host she cracked me up when she was on there.

I always thought the View should have women with different points of view. With Whoopi, and also with Rosie, I feel their point of view is a bit redundant. Although Whoopi can offer the point of view of an African American woman, to me both Rosie and Whoopi mirror Joy too much in that they are all funny, comedic, liberal-minded women. I'd like to see some more variety, and definitely more of a balance among the different thoughts.

I liked Sheri Shepherd when she was on. She is funny, and I do think the show is missing an African American content since Star left. Tyra already has her own show, plus I don't think she can blend, cause she is opinionated (in a good way), but you want a blend of someone who can share their opinion and yet listen to others. Rosie does not have that quality, and I doubt either Whoppi or Tyra could either. I love Sheri, and hope they pick her.

I never subscribed to having all voices represented. Who cares really. In fact, the prime-View days were with Meredith, Star, Joy and Lisa Ling. Hasselbeck has caused it to decline. Rosie's sent it all to parody.

Sherri Shepherd doesn't do a heck of a lot for me. She reminds me of a malleable, albeit humorous version of old Star Jones. Goldberg would be a great choice, but I think she may be above the View true intentions...

Zebop, Lisa Ling returning would be great...

I like Whoopi. She would make a good replacement, but I wonder how it would affect her other projects (movies, etc.)
