Tom Cruise's Scientology Video Surfs the Net

080116_Cruise1.jpg
Chances are you've heard about Tom Cruise's scientology video making its rounds in the blogosphere. Who knows, maybe you were even one of the select few who saw the full length video between its frequent disappearing acts. It's unclear where the controversial video came from — rumors are circulating that the clips are from recruitment videos, while others are claiming the footage is from an acceptance speech. One thing is for certain, the mysterious video started popping up almost simultaneously with Morton's unauthorized biography hitting the bookshelves. Coincidence? We think not!

Your take: What do you think Cruise made this video for? And do you think Morton's people have something to do with the "leak"?

(Chances are this will get yanked, but enjoy the video...while it lasts!)

What a freak show. Tom Cruise makes baby Jesus cry (or in this case, perhaps I should say baby Xenu).

I am not really sure why this short movie is seen as controversial??<img border="> What I see is a man talking about his religion and how it has changed his life for the better. He is doing nothing different than Billy Graham or the Pope who spreads their religions view to the public in hopes that others will join them. :)

I think people are "dogging" him just because he is a celebrity and his religion is different compared to the "common" religions we see in society (Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Muslim).

I think the only sad thing I can find in this video is that he is putting the impression out that Scientology/ Scientologist is/are the only way to achieve world peace. Dismissing the fact that in order to achieve world peace everyone (no matter religious background) have to come together in harmony. :-x

I pretty much agree with the above poster.
That said...
From a strictly logical point of view, isn't Scientology about the same as any religious idea, i.e. a belief in something that is unprovable that comes with guidelines and norms written down by people who believe they were given the information from a supernatural being?
From a strictly emotional point of view, is he bat crap crazy, or what?

If I have to see one more celebrity pimp their religion, my gag reflex is going to break, and I'm going to spew enough puke to drown all of Los Angeles.

I don't CARE who's a Scientologist, who's a Mormon, who's a Baptist, who's a Catholic, who's a Wiccan, who's a Muslim or who's a card carrying atheist. I DON'T CARE.

Believe whatever you want!! If it makes you feel like a better person to believe in it, good for you!! BUT WORSHIP IN PRIVATE!! DON'T run around acting like you're the Messiah of the Month because you lead some kind of spiritual life--especially if you're the kind of person who is rude, nasty, argumentative and condescending to people who disagree with you.

I have news for all those celebrities out there who wear their religion on their sleeves--IT DOESN'T MAKE ANYBODY OUTSIDE YOUR OWN CHURCH LIKE YOU ANY BETTER.

In fact, your need to shove your religion up everyone's nose is exactly why we didn't go to your last movie.

What is he even talking about? He is rambling on and on about nothing. There is something wrong with this guy. I am sure it has a lot to do with his sense of reality not being the norm anymore. He has been a huge star forever and he is used to being able to make his reality whatever he wants it to be. He probably should try to continue to lay low and say as little as possible. I would guess that his career is over or near over. He just scares people now!

ROTFLMAO!!!!:^O
I have never heard such claptrap before in my life: pompous, self-serving, egomaniacal, circular logic, BS. He comes across as a total nut job. Step back from the kool-aid.

Well, you're either in or you're out.
Of what? He said that at least 8 times and I don't know what I should get into...a car, a boat, a bottle of anti-depressants because of post-partum depression?

He is free to believe in whatever he wants, but for him to say that Scientology is the only belief system that can heal the world and then doesn't heal the world for us, makes him look like a fool!

There is something in the way he looks and talks that makes him look brainwashed.

I DO NOT actively practice any religion but do respect others that do. Tom Cruise IS NOT preaching to anyone - he is mearly carrying on a conversation about his religion. Is that so terible? I'm fine with it until he comes knocking on my door.

Dude almost makes Britney seem sane.

Come on people, comparing Tom Cruise to Britney? Britney can't even go a day without creating a sh*t storm, she can't see her kids, and she ends up dating a papparazi? I'll go with Tom any day!

he is a terrible spokesperson for scientology, but they'll never stop him cuz they want his millions.

he is defintely rambling about nothing and just pulling stuff out of the air half the time. he is defintely not in touch with reality, he's been living in his insular world and surrounded himself with yes people for waaay too long.

i respect everyone's right to worship as they believe, what bothers me is that he's always ARROGANTLY giving completely incorrect information---like the weird thing about scientologists being the ONLY people to help at an accident (maybe someone should him the stats on how off that is) and his dead-wrong views on therapy and pharmaceutical drugs. yes, they are abused and overprescribed, but to completely discount how helpful they are too is dangerous and ignorant. fortunately he has zero credibility so people dont listen to him cuz he's just plain WRONG on most of what he babbles on about. living with him would be HELL!!!!

Ranger99:

While I understanding describing the philosophy/theology of Scientology as a religion, the organization that runs the show (the Church of Scientology International) is pretty much a cult. And Tom is their poster boy.

Semantics? Perhaps. But it makes a big difference in how many people view his spiel. It makes it kinda sad. Which is sort of a good thing in this case because otherwise he seems cray-zee.

achyfakey - I totally agree but I still tend to defend Tom, scientology or not. He always seems very pleasant, witty, and dare do I say somewhat normal.

I would no more become a scientologist than I would become a transgender, but to me there is nothing wrong with either.
