You may have seen the debut performance of her first song in over a decade at the Super Bowl, and now, Idol judge Paula Abdul has just released the official video for “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow.” The once pop-star turned reality show judge appears to be ready and rarin’ to cross back into the music-making game alongside fellow Idol judge Randy Jackson (whom you can catch strumming away on his guitar between the freeze frame dance parties).
Your take: Does Paula still have it, or should she have left her music career in the past?
The song is undeniably catchy. The video is just okay. That ending was really unnecessary.
I would love to see Paula do a show stopping performance on Idol, not some drunken stumbling on stage, but a really serious, yet fun performance. So at least people will think she is less crazy now.
LOL! Nonetheless, good song, nice comeback song for her.
TALENT: Paula was at her peak in the 80's and I liked her music ,however, if this were played on American Idol by a "nobody" she wouldn't last long with the judges based on voice range. But she looks great and can still pull it off cause she is Paula Abdul.
LOOKS: Paula- you're still looking great and have always been an enjoyable one to watch dance.
RESULT: I wouldn't run out and purchase it but I wouldn't change the station if it were being played.
The song is catchy, she looks great and she dances well. The singing, well 3 out of 4 ain't bad. I wonder if this is why she is so tolerant of bad singing on Idol..
I consider Paula a great "entertainer" rather than a "vocalist," which means I don't think she has to sing like Celine or Whitney or Barbra. She carries pop/dance tunes nicely, looks fabulous FOR ANY AGE, and wraps it all up with funky little dance moves that engage her audience.
This song is very catchy and I hope it gets air play because I'm a fan who thinks she's due for a musical comeback. Is she quirky? Sure, but I think we ALL have our share of unusual behaviors. However, here she is, 20 years after she first hit the entertainment industry, still having influence, still earning an excellent paycheck, and still living her dream. What's not to love about someone who's a survivor in a business that will chew you up and spit you out the minute you get the least bit of footing?
I applaud her and am excited for this new phase of her career. To use Simon's word from last night's show: She's definitely RELEVANT!
I love Paula and always have! I think her new video is wonderful! I have read where she used to have a really bad back problem and it's nice to see she is able to return and do what she loves to do best (other than her jewelry and of course Idol), which is sing and dance! Go Paula!
That was pretty bizarre-- her outfits, the orgy of dancers, that weird final shot of her and the guys from AI. Not to mention, there's nothing special about the song. I have no idea why she decided to release a single and a music video when AI is in it's 7th season.
