Miley Cyrus' Controversial Vanity Fair Shoot

It's just one scandal after another with this girl. Last week she was flashing her bra in her personal pics and now tween queen Miley Cyrus is getting blasted for a risqué Vanity Fair photo. The 15-year-old is said to be clothed in the picture but was snapped by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz in such a way that Cyrus is appears topless. The actress has apologized to her fans saying she now feels "embarrassed" about the whole thing in retrospect.

Your take: Is Miley going too sexy too young or is the photo getting blown out of proportion?

If that's the worst she ever does, great. I just hope she doesn't step up the shock value to prove she is not a little girl. So Miley, you have proven you can look "mature", now prove you are a decent moral young woman and don't do it again.

This is being blown wayyyy out of proportion!!! Mileys' father was there and if he and her mother were not upset with the photos, "Get Over It" and stop trying to make this girl into a train wreck like Brittany, Paris, and Lindsay. She's not going around drunk and drugged up, she' not getting out of cars showing her crotch or boobs, give the girl a break! She is growing up, and maybe exploring her looks a little bit, but she isn't setting any bad example for teenage girls. Have any of you looked at the teenagers in your own neighborhood lately?!! Have you seen the trashy clothes they wear??!!

Annie Leibovitz, photographer, has demonstrated her untrustworthiness in the past. With Queen Elizabeth for example. Why trust her with Miley?

Compared to the young stars getting pregnant and being photographed while intoxicated, this beautiful photograph of Miley Cyrus covered with a blanket is quite innocent, and I see nothing wrong with it. She is a beautiful, talented and wholesome young girl from a good family, and to make her feel like she had done something wrong is cruel.

This type of photo shoot should have been stopped by both of Miley's parents. What! Is money so important? Not only was the tousled hair, bare back photo too adult for her, but the picture with her Dad is downright disturbing. I could understand him taking a picture like this with his wife, but his daughter? They could have taken some real cute photos of the two of them doing normal father/daughter stuff. She should not have to apologize, her parents should....

Once the media sees one photo, they go berserk. In some of these cases, I saw what the big deal was but I was expecting some downright raunchy photos of the girl from the way they were talking. Then I watch Today and see the pics...where's the controversy? This isn't controversial! They are just silly pictures BUT this goes to show that people (young and old) need to be careful with their image these days.

Now anyone can take your picture (no matter how classy or trashy) and put it on the web for EVERYONE to see. Young girls especially should learn from this and every other example that is out there. Me and my friends took stupid silly pics all the time. Thank God we didn't have digital pics back then or I'd be really embarrassed.

It's simple. This is PORNOGRAPHY! She is 15 years old. If this picture showed up in some other magazine, of another girl that age, it would be called porn. There's no principles left in this country at all. Just when you think someone is different from all the others and find out she's just as bad as the others, if not worse, since she's starting at an earlier age. Very disappointing. Where's God? Where's her parents? She's been bragging that she's different from the other young celebrities who do nothing but turn our stomachs, and now this. there's no repairing this one. Disney, I am so sorry. You deserved better. Our young people deserve better.

What were Miley's parents thinking? Where was their common sense. Miley claims she is the upstanding role model for younger girls and then she starts flashing her bra and now this adult picture showing up on the cover of Vanity Fair. Guess little Miley doesn't want to protray herself as squeaky clean anymore. She may want to catch up with the other attention seekers in Hollywood. Too bad Miley, YOU MESSED UP!

I have 3 young daughters who adore Miley, now I am faced with a big decision, do I give this gal another chance, or do my children hate me for a while because I ban her from our home? I do know, I will not allow this to continue without pulling the plug. I am even more concerned for Miley herself. I feel she is being used, not only by the media, but also by her one hit wonder dad, Billy Ray. It seems he is living his dreams of being a star through his daughter. All you see in the stores now is Miley this, or that, she is doing more and more TV, and concerts, she will be old before her time, and it's a shame. I would like to know why her Mother is allowing this.

I belive she is a good kid. All a clever person has to do with a digital photo is manipulate the light and shadeto make the photo look different. I think the magazine did just that. Take that same photo and use natural skin tone and lighten the lip color and it is different.

All the "hype" about "semi nude" is crap. She is more covered than any kid at a swimming pool. The media is creating a story. Anyone that actually thinks sex over those pictures needs help.

Ok. The picture of her in a sheet may be a bit racy but who is to blame. They had all these people seeing the photo before it got posted so why didn't anyone say something? I'm sure at the time Vanity Fair thought it would be a good thing for Miley and wasn't expecting such a crazy outpour of disapproval. And I'm sure Miley thought it would be good and wasn't gonna apologize until she realized her public wouldn't like it. And Disney needs to get a grip on reality. They were there watching the shoot and they knew what was going on. No one was manipulating anyone. Disney is just trying to keep this "good" image which is extremely distorted. We all know everyone likes ratings and thats what all this situation is for. Miley is eating this up and getting paid big bucks for this controversy. Everyone knows Britney got plenty of royalities from her public outcries. And who's to say Miss Miley Cyrus is gonna go wild when she gets that big ego and when she get 20 years old and to think she won't is niave.:^O

I agree that those photos do not look racy to me. Shes just as covered up as someone wearing a bathing suit or even a backless dress. Heck even more so. Also her with her dad is NOT sexual. When I was a little kid I was at the beach in a bathing suit leading across my dads lap while my mom snapped the shot. It wasnt sexual it was just a cute father/daughter pic. Also all the moms complaining about her since shes a role model, how about NOT letting your children see those pictures or the news/websites talking/showing them. You are the parents and are suppose to be responsible for waht your kids see and do. If its not for your parenting abilities your children wouldnt even probably know about the pictures. Also if they would happen to see them some other way perhaps TALKING to your children they would know that the pictures arent sexual and what they can do as YOUR children at what ages. Perhaps if you put as much effort into parenting and spending time with your children as you do throwing a fit about other peoples actions, your children would look up to you not to people they dont even know.

Wow the way everyone was reacting to this, I thought she had been caught in a Paris Hilton-like situation. There is an interesting photo gallery showing a backstage look at the now-infamous VF shoot here http://dish.fancast.com/2008/04/photos_backstage_at_the_miley.html

What I think is that the world is making out like she was nude, but she was covered in a sheet, and no one saw the whole pic, only what VF showed, so it reflected bad on this young lady, so now she is getting a bad name. I don't believe for one min that if her dad was on that photo shoot that he would let his young daughter pose for a nude or half nude photo, now does anyone else out there think he would either? She is a good young lady, and yes she is 15, so that makes her a teenager.
