We didn't know what to expect on last week's America's Got Talent when we first heard that opera singer Donald Braswell had lost his voice for several years and decided to have his first returning stage performance on national television. But low and behold, his rendition of Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" left us floored by his talent. It took a couple refrains to win this tough crowd over, but once he did, they couldn’t get enough. Lucky for him the judges ignored the crowd and didn't prematurely X him off the stage!
I was watching the show both nights this episode aired. His story and singing brought tears to my eyes and I was truly moved. Then I was was quite upset when I saw the mob mentality. I was absolutely mortified that the people in the audience acted this way. What a horrible way to treat a fellow human being! I only hope that none of the members of the lynch mob that were in the audience ever meet up with something like they subjected that man to. I know by watching them that they would not have the grace that the singer did. Shame on the fourth judge and the people that make it up!!!!!!!!! Shame on the celebrity judges for not calling the audience on it and shame on the producers for playing it up!
I had a hard time understanding how any audience could boo Mr. Braswell's voice. From the moment he started singing, anyone could tell he has a beautiful voice. Some of my friends felt that the audience was prompted to "boo" for the first few stanzas, as anyone in their right mind would know he had a good voice. He was much better than many of the "so called entertainers" they put through to Las Vegas. Jo
Either that audience was retarded or they were prompted to boo like someone else said. He sounded fine from the start. His type of singing isn't my particular cup of tea but the audience was annoying me by their nonsensical booing. The America's Got Talent audience blows!
Why don't they do away with the audience of idiots. Half of the time we can't even hear the 'talent' to hear if they have any. This man was singing his heart out while they were booing. I say "BOO" to them. Hooray to a magnificent singer!!
Can't they shut the idiot audience up. We can't hear the talent good enough to hear if they have talent. That's up to the judges anyway. Donald had a marvelous voice along with a miraculous recovery story. Who needs that bunch of yaahoos to say who's good. How about a giant QUIET sign except for applause.
It seems as though they are bringing in Jerry Springer-type audiences. I am still trying to figure out why they would do that (and what they need Jerry Springer on the show for in the first place). If they want the show taken seriously, get rid of the Springer-loving audiences and bring in a more classy group.
It's so obvious the whole audience reaction thing was staged. The audience was told to boo at the beginning and then to cheer once the singer hit the big note.
Just like he has a big comeback story with his voice, he has the big comeback story with the audience to go with it. A real tear jerker.
There is so much staging that goes on in "reality" shows. The TV audience has no idea.
I cannot believe they are sending Ms or Mr Saunders who is a transvestite or a man doing Tina Turner and sent home Donald Braswell. Who is screwed up here? BRING DONALD BACK. HE is a REAL talent not the Tina Turner whatever. Keeping a sword swallower? Keeping a little girl who beats up her father? Where's the talent???? BRING DONALD BRASWELL BACK!!!!!!!!
