Studio 60 Returns... Just as Soon as Sweeps Ends

Gotta give the folks over at TVTattle.com props for catching this one. The Peacock has super-stealthily "announced" (via some don't-scroll-to-the-right-and-you'll-miss-it text at NBC.com) that Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip will return Thursday, May 24, at 10 pm/ET — aka the day after the May-sweeps rating period closes.

By my math, Jordan (the Amanda Peet character, remember?) is now about 11-months pregnant.

I'm estatic, Matt, but something tells me my pleasure will be short lived. True? Is my memory right that when they first pulled the plug there were 4 episodes left? And if so, do you think that's all we'll get??

It's about time Studio 60 returns. And it's good timing. The FCC is once again taking aim at TV and video games for being too violent, VT shootings, and NBC replaces a nonviolent program with Black Donnoleys a program filled with violence. Then the compound the error with Real Wedding Crashers. I thought they were going to keep non-scripted reality programs to the 8 o'clock hour.

Welcome back Studio 60.

Ehh... I ran out of care for this show.

It took a great concept and mishandled it. I might tune in. But I probably won't.

I'm glad that the episodes will finally find their way to our screens (as opposed to our computer monitors).

Matt, do you know how many episodes will air? Thanks!

I'm glad the fans of the show will get to see the remaining episodes -- that's always a good thing -- but, personally, I'm with stepliana on this one.

I've never seen a show squander so much pre-debut goodwill and hype.

Studio 60...The Black Donnellys...The Real Wedding Crashers...boy, it has been a real downhill slide for NBC at 10 on Mondays, hasn't it? What's next -- televised bingo? Oh, wait someone's already beaten them to that dustbin of ideas...

Yeah, good news! I'm glad to hear it's coming back. Hopefully it will show good enough ratings for a season 2

What Einstein put this quality show up at it's new time against "Shark". "Studio 60" would be much better served resuming it's Monday 10 pm time slot.

I know I've seen others complain about this but I feel I must also: what is the point of the "keep me logged in" check option if it doesn't actually keep one logged in?

Anyway...

I'm SO excited to hear that Studio 60 is coming back. I don't care when it's on--I'll watch. I've missed it and even if I only get the four remaining episodes, I'm there. I haven't missed one yet!

Well its about time that NBC brings about Studio 60. To bad its the day after May sweeps ends. I dont know what NBC been thinking about these past few months with their programming(Im talking about Daytime and Primetime)...I didnt watch TBD, and Im defiantly not watching that crap Real Wedding Crashers. They should pull that show, and bring Studio 60 ASAP.

And thus, the burn-off begins. Pretty sneaky of NBC to put this on after sweeps ends so that the anemic ratings won't damage NBC's ad rates any more than they already have. I'm betting that NBC won't even show all of the remaining episodes and that they will be eventually dumped on Bravo.

I understand that the ratings for "Studio 60" never matched expectations but it's a lost cause now. How did NBC expect to build an audience by yanking it off the schedule so often? And now to put it on after sweeps is just the ultimate insult. (As if NBC had anything else to run in that time slot.)

I hope they're able to wrap up the show -- if that's even possible -- during those last four episodes. Maybe some cable outlet will pick it up? HBO is losing "The Sopranos" and desperately needs a new hit. The "Studio 60" audience -- as small as it's been -- is still larger than an average HBO rating, with the added benefit of all those coveted demographics that pay-TV loves...

This is somewhat of a misconception that keeps getting repeated.

The show aired its first 11 episodes virtually uninterrupted from 9/18 to 12/4. Then there was a gap of about a month and a half -- as there was with many shows this year, not just Studio 60 -- before returning for a five-episode run in January and February.

It was yanked because the ratings had a persistent downward trajectory.

I don't think it's quite accurate to imply that NBC didn't give it a chance.
