Jerry Springer: Rosie vs. Liz Was a Real Humdinger!

Jerry Springer — a man who knows a thing or two about car-crash television — says that Wednesday's verbal donnybrook between The View's Rosie and Elisabeth was no less than "compelling." "What I liked about it was that it was about something very substantive," he told TVGuide.com on the red carpet for American Idol's finale. "It wasn’t about hairstyles and all that stuff. It really was about something that’s important. It was pretty electric."

Springer — himself a replacement for Regis when America's Got Talent returns — thus fears The View may take a ratings hit once Rosie leaves. "We'll see who they get [to take O'Donnell's place]." — Additional reporting by Michael Maloney

POLL: Last chance to "pick teams" before I forward the results to the magazine!

Yesterday's View has been buildin for a long time. Elizabeth stood her ground beautifully! The comment about Donald was perfect. I feel sorry for Barbara because this is not the show she wanted to put on but somehow it's good payback for their treatment of Star.

The rating may not be as high when Rosie leave but I'm sure the show will be an improvement.

Rosie thrives on confrontation!

I think the debate typifies what the real issue is: those of us who don't see the war in Iraq as justified simply can't understand why logic and reason don't lead those who believe in the ideology of the Iraq war won't change their minds when faced with reality. Americans and innocent civilians killed and the strengthening of Al Queda by creating a battleground for them, and billions of dollars spent every day which could be spent on social programs here in America that would save hundreds of thousands of lives.

Even though Rosie is being demonized by pundits who fail to make that connection, I'm proud of her for standing up to spinmeisters like Elisabeth.

How sad that Rosie needs everyone "who is her friend" to stand-up for her, i.e. Barbara with Donald (she got mad at her because of this) and now Elisabeth. I think Elisabeth outclasses Rosie's BIG MOUTH and VIEWS every single confrontation. We ALL know how Rosie feels about George Bush, as do a lot of us; however, we don't beat it into the ground every day, day in and day out, via her web site, via every day she opens her mouth on The View. Although some say she has brought an excitement to the show, that may have been true, but now she brings nothing but embarrassment to herself, her family, her children, her in-laws, and to those who put her in that seat. I liked The View without Rosie and I liked it with Rosie; however, I don't like it any longer with Rosie, especially after yesterday's show when she tried to bulldoze Elisabeth, who was supposed to be "Rosie's friend". I guess it's okay in Rosie's book to berate and try to unhinge someone in public when they don't declare undying allegiance to her 24-7! Rosie - grow up - get help about your insecurities with what friends are supposed to do. Elisabeth is right - YOU needed to EXPLAIN YOURSELF - it was YOU who said what was said - YOU need to be held accountable, NOT ELISABETH or BARBARA! Three more weeks of the tension you caused yesterday on the show is enough for me. I don't know how Elisabeth stayed there without walking out. I think everyone would have applauded her for doing so. Me, I just changed the channel, which I will continue to do if Rosie continues her self-righteous rants.

I am with Rosie all the way! Elizabeth is so stupid that she can’t even see what the real issue is: she was asked a yes or no question and danced around the answer. Ro has every right to feel hurt that her “Friend” did not stick up for her. Maybe Elizabeth is afraid she won’t get invited back to the White House. And after Joy B read that list and Elizabeth kept going on about games, I think SHE needs to go, not Ro. I think Ro speaks for a lot more people than Elizabeth does! I don’t think Rosie’s views are venom. She, like a lot of people in this country are concerned that our young people are still dying in a country that does not need or want us there. We have enough problems in the USA and need to stop this senseless loss of life. Ro just has the guts and the platform to speak for those that can’t. Bush has made a mess of our country and needs to go. And he can take that holier than thou Elizabeth with him! Let THEM go over to Iraq and “Defend our Freedom

Well said JeremyDallas!! I don't understand how people cannot see/understand the real issues. Rosie is loud and crass and Elizabeth is...too many negative words come to mind so forget it... but Rosie and JOY (and many others outside of The View) point out so many incidents of ineptitude of this Republican administration that it baffles me how anyone can still support said administration, and specifically the Iraq war.

I agree with Jeremy, curly and grablove. But although I think that Rosie is right, the way that she says it is wrong, wrong, wrong. Elisabeth is there to give her views on everything Republican, but lately, I really don't know what's she's talking about. I don't even think she knows what she's talking about either. It seems that lately many tv personalities like Lissie, O'Reilly et all have been making excuses about this war but yet manages to state the obvious fact that a whole bunch of things went completly wrong. They're so busy trying to paint an image that everything is going right when everything went to hell in a handbasket. Too many people is dying (on both sides) for no reason at all and certain people try to spin it as fighting for our freedom when we're really fighting for oil. They're fighting for their freedom. Be honest for a change, instead of finding Al-Queda, you're basically trying to finish what Daddy couldn't and made things completly worse with the Iraqis. Somebody posted yesterday that this war is a no-win situation which is true. But how many more innocent people are going to die for oil? You screwed up. Quit being a politician, and be a human being for a change and tell the truth.

It was not - and should not be Elizabeths place to defend Rosie. Rosie said that thousands of innocent Iraq people have been killed in this war - and then asked the question " so, who are the terrorists?" How did she think people would take that? I am a fan of Rosies but as soon as made the statement I thought it sounded terrible no matter how she meant it. Plus when she talks about how she believes the government had something to do with colapsing one of buildings on 9-11 what does she expect from some people? If she is going to talk the talk then she should not expect people to take up for her, friend or not. While I don't agree with Elizabeth in alot of what she says she stood her ground and came out looking better than Rosie did. Rosie needs to realize there is a difference is being passionate about something you belive in and trying to beat someone into believing in what you do.

That's the main question she was trying to get across "who are the terrorists?" In most of the Iraqi eyes, WE ARE the terrorists. In no way was Rosie trying to disrespect the troops. She was trying to make a point that went terribly wrong. And so was Elisabeth. It was an match about who can get their points across by being the loudest. And they both lost and ended up looking stupid and embarassed.

BCOS - you said it perfectly. Rosie is a bully bully bully. EH is far from an idiot or stupid. It seems like the majority of you just love to see her get beat up by Rosie, but I think EH held her own quite well. We all want the troops home, regardless of political parties. We all look so stupid for this in fighting. Other counties laugh in our face. This makes us look bad. We should all be united and support and respect our president. Hey - I did not like Clinton, but I still supported him after he shamefully got busy with Monica. That made him look STUPID.

Having sex with someone is completly different than messing up on the war. You can't possibly compare those two.

"the majority of you just love to see her get beat up by Rosie."

Please don't include me when making a comment like that. I like Elisabeth, but somtimes she doesn't know what she's talking about. Like she said before, she's not "Poor Elisabeth". Was she "Poor Elisabeth" when she was taking on Star Jones? And we should support the prez? PLEASE! You can. He single-handedly screwed up the economy, created a war that should've never happened, and now he want to raise taxes more because of this war. Like I said before, he screwed up. He made the damage that he can't undo, and he's making it worse. So go ahead and support the prez. I'm not. I will in 2 years though.

I have watched many a disagreement between these two and in the past it has never become personal. Elizabeth claims to be a good friend of Rosie's and up until yesterday I think the feelings were mutual. During the spat Rosie asked for the answer to a yes or no question based solely on Elizabeth's personal knowledge of Rosie and based on the fact that she was sitting next to her when the comments were made. Elizabeth could not bring herself to answer the question instead turning it into something it didn't need to be. For those of you who defend what she said and her reaction I ask this...... Elizabeth claims she was in the right and did not act cowardly in dancing around a simple question from one friend to another.....then how do you explain her mad rush to all the media outlets to tell her side of the story? She felt a need to be heard on every network and basically egging Rosie on for another response . Perhaps she is more like Donald Trump than she would care to admit. They both love to claim victory when their overall views are sooo skewed in the wrong direction.

Wycked1 - I can compare anything I want. I am really sick of the likes of you who say that can't be compared. On a certain level - it can. Bush did not mess up the war - alot of positive has come out of it. History also shows that the ecomomy is better than it was when Clinton was in office. Clinton is a liar. And he is immoral. He proved that. I am not completely in support of everything Bush does, but I would love to see what your party would be doing right now. So go for it - elect one of your morons. I will support them regardless bc I am a PATRIOT - and dont forget to take your kerry/edwards 2004 bumper sticker off of your volkswagon.

"Bush did not mess up the war - alot of positive has come out of it".

What positive? A whole lot of soldiers died for NOTHING! Go ahead an believe that.

"Clinton is a liar. And he is immoral"

Yeah, and Bush is a holier than than thou saint. Whatever.

"I am not completely in support of everything Bush does"

If you weren't, you wouldn't be so quick to defend all of his mistakes.

"but I would love to see what your party would be doing right now. So go for it - elect one of your morons. I will support them regardless bc I am a PATRIOT"

I laugh at that. "I'm a PATRIOT". You're funny.
:^O

"and dont forget to take your kerry/edwards 2004 bumper sticker off of your volkswagon."

Who's Kerry/Edwards? Never heard of 'em.

And I don't drive a Volkswagen. It's a Pinto with new paint on it.

P.S.
If you're going to come up with a diss, make sure it's better than this (hey, a rhyme).
