"Good" Girl (?!) Paris' Jail Stay Is Cut in Half
After reviewing Paris Hilton's probation violation case, authorities on Wednesday opted to cut the socialite's date with the Los Angeles County Detention Center in half, to just 23 days — on the basis of "good behavior." Among the factors influencing the decision was Paris' prompt appearance at her latest court date. (But not, apparently, the fact that she was spied driving, still with a suspended license, after she was sentenced.)
Pending any appeal, Paris' visit to the clink — namely, the "special needs housing unit" reserved for high-profile inmates (and/or, I suppose, high inmates with a pretty profile) — commences June 5.
P.S.: Paris popped up at Tuesday's Xbox 360 Halo 3 preview bash, where, a friend tells me, "she pulled the celebrity cell-phone trick, where they hold the phone up to their ears so that no one will talk to them because they look like they are on the phone." Paris ultimately scored herself a free 360 with the claim that she's a Halo-holic. "Bulls--t," opines my pal.
Update: Hilton has decided not to appeal her May 4 jail sentence. According to LA Superior Court spokesperson Liz Martinez, the heiress filed an "abandonment of appeal." Let's all pray that no one shanks her to get at her brand-new Xbox 360.

Who got paid off? If she was seen driving with a suspended license, then she isn't sorry....
I take that back. She's very, very sorry she was caught!

I am sad by this news. She broke the law! She should serve the same sentence anyone else would.

She should have to do the full sentence if that is the norm in that county. Some counties reduce sentences for non-violent offenders because of jail overcrowding.
However, it was my understanding that as of the time of sentencing, her suspension had already lifted and it was OK for her to drive by that time. Not standing up for her; she makes me sick; but I know I read that she had not broken the law the second time.

Unbelievable!! Less jail time and the special needs housing unit?!
I thought "good behavior" was taken into consideration after you went to jail, not before.

Definitely--how can a person's behavior be deemed "good" before they even go to jail? It's her world--we're all just living in it.

Somebody defiantly got paid off. I'm surprised that they didn't cut her whole sentence entirely. But since she is still going to jail......I would still love to see a picture of her in her orange jumpsuit.

Man, I don't know what's worse - Paris' jail time getting cut in half (thus showing again that celebs get special treatment), or the fact that she scored an XBox 360 that's probably going to gather dust.
At least she's still going to jail... hmm - wonder if her jailhouse footage can be released as Chained Heat: Paris Hilton edition?

I praised the judicial system in Los Angeles for sentencing Ms. Hilton. At the time I wondered if she would serve any time. My doubts have been rewarded. Apparently, the RICH can get rewarded for good behavior prior to serving time. Why isn't this deal made to all convicts? I'm sure most would take the offer and it would alleviate crowding in your jails. Since when does showing up on time constitute "good behavior"? Shame on you Los Angeles. This is clearly justice for some, not all. The lame judge who made this decision should be removed from the bench for obvious favoritism. Unbelievable ...

B.S indeed. But most importantly, can she spell Halo?

Credited as good behavior for showing up for a court hearing? Since when did that apply? What about being 15 minutes late? Has anyone with legal authority watched TV today to see Paris smoking a joint on her website? Another fine example of celebrity, and or, money ruling the California justice system.. What a joke!

Or at least, you know stretch her--- I'm sorry, I won't go there. Your joke is funnier. Leave it at that.

The Hiltons know that Paris will only stay in a jail a few hours--long enough to get processed--before being released because of overcrowding. The only reason the authorities are going this far is because the public is pissed and they need to make a good show of trying to punish her. But money wins out here sorry to say.
It is quite strange that after all the huffing and puffing about being singled out for being "famous and beautiful" now Paris is talking about being responsible and taking her punishment? Yeah, ok. The Hiltons know there will be no real jail time for their princess. I mean why not play up the "I taking responsibility for my wrong doing" mantle and come off looking like a rose when this is over. It's not so hard to show such bravery when you know you will never have to serve time. Mark my words--Paris will just walk into her cell, take a few pictures with her phone, and then be escorted out with a "sorry for the inconvenience" from the warden.
