ABC Fires Up Cavemen and Grey's 2.0, Eight Others

A total of 10 pilots received series orders from ABC on Friday, the trades are reporting. The network's new dramas are Greg Berlanti's Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone, the Grey's Anatomy spin-off Private Practice, Cashmere Mafia, Pushing Daisies, Women's Murder Club (yay, Jimmy P.!) and Big Shots (Dylan McDermott, Michael Vartan, Christopher Titus and Joshua Molina as CEOs/wannabes).

Cavemen leads the laffer pack, followed by Sam I Am (Christina Applegate as an amnesiac) and Carpoolers. Stray thought: If GEICO's cavemen can hit it big, maybe we can find a new gig for Applebee's' Amy? Please??

October Road and Notes from the Underbelly, meanwhile, will return mid-season, with 13-episode runs.

Does this mean that Football Wives didn't get picked up? I thought that one was a given.

Also, the caveman show sounds like one of the worst ideas in history. That's bound to go down in flames after two episodes.

Several of these sound intriguing. Good for ABC. After years in the network basement, maybe the executives are finally starting to get back on track with the viewers!

*giggle giggle* Applebee's Amy and the Confetti Chicken. Care for an animated series Food Network? Perhaps Tyler Florence could provide a voice.

I think you're being overly generous. I say the worst idea in history will go down in flames after ONE episode. Or we can always hope it never makes it on the air at all.

I think I am most excited about Women's Murder Club. I am a James Patterson fan, and his WMC books are tight, interesting well written mysteries. I hope the series is as well.

I thought Miss/Guided had strong buzz - not even a Mid-Season order? I love Judy Greer! She was the best thing on Love Monkey!

I may be in the minority but I'm very glad October Road is coming back.

i am so happy that abc picked up greys spinoff private practice. i loved the pilot, and was hoping that abc would pick it up.

and as for caveman.....bad idea. of all the geico commericals they had to make this one into a show. i say it will last about 1 episode.

I'd rather see a series built around the "Is 'DNA' really evidence? No." lady from the Washington Mutual commercials.

It is so true that bad publicity is better than no publicity; Cavemen is the most talked about new series so far.

I'm thrilled that October Road will be back. I think it makes a great mid-season show.

Have they mentioned who is going to star in the Cavemen show? Will the same actors that play them on the commercials play them on the series?

I am happy to see 'October Road' coming back, but I wish it was sooner than mid-season.

I love Joshua Molina and Michael Vartan too so I might have to check out 'Big Shots' too.
