Who Are Your All-time Favorite Dancing Champs?
I have to say that Kristi is the all time BEST dancer. No one comes close to her.
I do love Drew and Cheryl but my favorite dancing couple was Joey Fatone and Kim. I know they didn't win (even though they should have beaten Apolo) when they did that Star Wars dance, I fell in Love!

I LOVE Kelly Monaco, so of course I have an allegiance to her. She showed the most growth during her season. All in all though, Kristi is the most deserving of her win. She could out dance anyone that has competed so far.

I was THRILLED that Kristi and Mark won...I loved them from the beginning. But my all-time favorite dancing couple (who got robbed of the title, in my and many others' opinions) is Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff. End of discussion. I like dancers who can dance, not football players who win you over with their smiles and their bodies. The title is DANCING With the Stars. Not POSING While the Real Dancers Make You Look Good.

Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff should be on this list but they didn't win -- so glad that emmitt is nowhere near the top.

I would LOVE to see all the past winners and runners up compete in a new season! I think that would be the true test of who was the best!

...except you went on and on  - Apparently not enough people liked them enough to vote for them. Get over it already - they were bad sports and alot of people didn't feel like rewarding them for it. If you don't like the popularity aspect of the show, don't watch it, and watch the real ballroom competitions instead. No brainer.
Among the champs I think my favorite would be Apolo and Juliane, although some of my favorite couples didn't even make it to the finals, like Jennie Garth and Derek Hough and Lisa Rinna and Louis (sorry!) - not saying they were the best, I just always looked forward to their dances each week in those seasons.

Apolo and Julianne. He was not an entertainer, an athlete from a less popular sport with natural talent. My other favorite couples never won like Jennie and Derek, Lisa and Louis and Stacy and Tony. Kristi is great but could care less about Mark. Sorry. The other winning couples were great together, all I remember about this season's champ is Kristi. I prefer Alec to Mark. At least Alec was not a show off.

You said it, ctheslayer. What made me dislike Mario even more was the faux or FAKE latino accent he sported. Hello?! I remember him from the Saved By The Bell Days, and he spoke perfect English with an American accent.
Just Sayin'.
For me, it will always be Drew and Cheryl, followed by Mel and Maks and Kristi and Mark.
Can't wait till September to see my Maks.

Kristi and Mark by far, she is good enough to turn Pro. That BS about her having an advantage is nuts, she had to learn to dance just like the others. She has natural grace from her skating days ill grant you that. What burned me was Marissa, the last time I saw legs and a rear like hers, was in a Starting Gate. Good dancers were lost because of her. Oh well cant wait until Sept>

Can we count John O'Hurley, who claimed that he should have won and actually beat Kelly Monaco in a rematch? I believe he was partnered by Edytha (forgive my spelling)

I think John O'Hurley's partner was Charlotte something, although I think people have a hard time remembering it because it was pronounced like Carlotta.

Umm Hello, but where is John O'Hurley, the true Season One winner. Kelly Monaco should never have one and she shouldn't be on this list. In case you forgot there was a dance off between Kelly and John because there was such a stink that she won over him. And John won, fair and square. John O'Hurley should definitely be on this list.

Of all the stars that have been on DWTS, Emmitt Smith was my favorite! I've always been an Emmitt fan! Ask my family and they'll tell you about my days of Emmitt posters for living room wall art!!!!
But as far as the dancing, while Emmitt certainly impressed me and I was excited to see him win....there came Helio!
I had no clue who he was, never heard of him but that man caught my attention from the first dance and by the end of last season had totally won me over!!!!
Of all of the stars who had absolutely NO dance experience whatsoever, he is definitely the BEST of the BEST!!!
I will be watching my first Indy race this Sunday to see Helio win his next trophy!!!

There was a stink b/c everyone accused ABC of rigging the contest, and they had to backtrack and do damage control. I thought that was quite silly. It didn't prove a thing except that Kelly Monaco won Season 1 and John Hurley won Season 1.5. His win didn't undo/negate her win.
