Are Shannon and Derek Dancing into a Reality Show?

Dancing with the Stars Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough by Kelsey McNeal/ABC
Could Dancing duo Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth be quietly choreographing plans for a new reality show of their own?

Sources tell Extra that the two are in talks with the production company that Mel B runs with her husband, Stephen Belafonte. The purported reality series will explore the recently ousted pair's career moves, including Elizabeth's acting efforts and Derek's passion for music. It would also highlight, of course, their new-found "showmance" — of which some of us cannot get enough.

Would this show be a go? Or would a Shannon-Derek reality series be a quickstep to regret? — Anna Dimond

Horrible idea! I love Mel, Shannon and Derek but I hope all three move away from this idea. If anything, the fans went away from them when the showmance rumors came out. Who would watch a reality show about it?

Derek should stick to dancing and music, and Shannon to acting.

I love these guys, and loved watching them on DWTS, but I just think this would be a bad idea. Not everything makes good reality TV (actually, a lot of things don't make good reality tv) and I feel that this would be one of those things...

I think it would be extremely tacky to have a reality show about a couple who've only been a couple for maybe a month or so. Give me a reality show about a committed long-term couple and then maybe I would watch it. Derek and Shannon would probably be broken up before the show was even finished, a la Nick and Jessica.

Embarrassing to admit it, but I would watch their reality show. I can't help it, I'm just too curious.

Wow. They must be desperate for reality tv ideas - or Mel B. is looking for more publicity. Sheesh.

Is Shannon's divorce even final yet?

I love derek and shannon and think they should have been in the finals. This would be a horrible idea -- reality shows end like this end up turning against the stars -- ask nick and jessica simpson. Why not a sitcom instead or a talk show?

They are too talented to do the osbournes or something like that.

No, no, no, no, no! Nothing good could come of this.

Mel, ignore your husband, this is a bad idea. Derek, focus on dancing and your band with Mark while Shannon should focus on acting.

Bad idea and no one benefits here except maybe Mel's husband.

one of the worst ideas ever!! If anyone were to have a reality show, I'd vote for Mark and Sabrina! I like Derek, but Shannon sucked at dancing, sucks at acting, and is pathetic in general.

Worst idea ever! Mel, if you need to a reality show, Sabrina/Mark makes more sense. Not even a Sabrina fan but that makes more sense. There is no interest in Shannon and Derek. They lost viewer support after their "showmance". This would not help Shannon or Derek's careers either.

Oh God NO!!! What a terrible idea. I generally am not a fan of reality shows that follow the daily lives of any celebrities. Some subjects are so quirky that they can be mildly entertaining, i.e. the Osbornes or Gene Simmons. But not Shannon and Derek. What have these two done that would make them interesting? Pursue your individuals careers and your joint relationship, if you like, but run, don't walk, from this lame-brain idea.
