Cheryl Burke's Set for Summer of Dance, and Downtime

This summer, Cheryl Burke will actually be putting her feet up — or at least, she's going to try.

During Sunday's annual Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation Carnival, Burke told TVGuide.com that this summer, she's hoping to take a much-needed break, plus spend time in her new NorCal dance studio. "I'm flying back and forth to San Francisco a lot," she said, "and also trying to take a vacation. I haven't taken a vacation in three years, because normally we go on tour [in the summer]. I have the time, and the sun, to just chill and relax and spend time in my dance studio." Sporting a flowing halter dress and flat sandals, the petite Dancing pro looked set for summer already.

Burke's studio, which opened April 4, is already seeing big crowds on its dance floor. "It's going great," she enthused. "We just had 250 little kids come by wanting to learn how to dance so we're really excited."

The Dancing pro also confided that dancing isn't her only talent. At the Glaser event, she and fellow pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy were manning the Sprouts Preschool Play Zone, where Burke was in charge of the ping-pong booth. Admitting that she's "expert" at the table sport, she said, "I love ping-pong. I used to play ping-pong all the time with my family!" With any luck, Burke will get some more time this summer to brush up on her game. — Anna Dimond

Good for her! She deserves it! She's such a great role model for young people.

Good to know she's taking some time off! She probably needed it as anybody who makes up stories about being involved with a supposed neighbor (who doesn't even live in her block, btw) in the future, really needs some down time. All in all, I bear her no hard feelings and I'm glad to hear her studio is doing well.

Im happy for Cheryl, she deserves to slow down a bit and take some rest. The scandal and rumors about her this past season and with Cristian injury was probably too much for her to handle. She deserves to take a vacation.Just hope she comesback next season. It wount be the same without her on the show.

And for the above poster about Gerard Butler, for what i heard Cheryl was the one who declined to continue to date the guy.She couldnt stand him talking too much about himself as what i heard her say.She wasnt making it up,even cristian have said it and confirmed it.

As far as i know,Cheryl is the best ever on DWTS.

Just got home from work and read my e-mails. I really have enjoyed Cheryl over the past few seasons. I think she has brought a great number of viewers a lot of happiness and I think her personal life is just that -- Personal!! I don't think any of the posters, including myself, was put on this earth to judge others. If all you can say is something negative - then, don't watch the show - don't bring someone down by continuing to spread stories (true or untrue) - sometime you may be in a situation where things are better left unsaid. I am sure she needs some time away from DWTS and I hope she returns. She is a crowd favorite and I, at least, watch the show for the dances -- not the gossip! She's really very talented and she is very young (22??) - I wonder how OLD and how much life experience some of the negative posters have and what makes them so negative?? Remember, Karma!!

Does anyone else think she could be Tiger Woods' sister?

She's a joy to watch and always puts so much energy in her performance. Take a break and enjoy!

Good for Cheryl! I'm glad she's going to get a vacation, I'm sure she needs it. And I'm also glad that her dance studio is doing well.

She is one of my favorite dancers on the show and I love to watch her dance. I too hope she's back for the next season.
