Tristan Rogers Checks Back into GH

General Hospital icon Tristan Rogers — absent from the show since 2006 — will headline the second season of SOAPnet's General Hospital: Night Shift as Robert Scorpio when the series returns next month.

Don’t expect his usual bad-boy superspy antics, however. Scorpio will arrive with "a major health issue that’ll have him grappling with his mortality," says a rep for the GH spin-off.

Robert's daughter, Robin (Kimberly McCullough), will be his physician. Sounds pretty damn dire, but Rogers is thrilled. "This’ll be a real departure wherever it's headed," he says. "Robert and Robin will finally get a chance to connect as adults. The last time he was in town he was too busy battling a killer virus, so he's never even dealt with her being HIV-positive." But he’s got way more than that to deal with now: Robin is pregnant. — Michael Logan

Fantastic. Major character development, which GH fans have been waiting for, with legacy characters, including a long-overdue visit from one of GH's most popular actors ever—and the story will be on NIght Shift. On Soapnet. Which not everyone has access to, even those who have cable. Wait...it could be online, too—but that does little for those who can afford computers and internet access. Well, I suppose they can always buy the DVD. Ha!!!

In all seriousness, I think that moves like these, which exclude part of a show's loyal audience (no matter how small that excluded sector might be) are insulting and flat out wrong.

Glad he'll be back but isn't being treated by FAMILY unethical and not allowed?

I cannot believe this. After waiting and waiting and waiting some more then to see the headline TRISTAN ROGERS CHECKS BACK INTO GH only to be told we have to be able to get Soapnet to watch him? Do they need us fans to make a list of people to get rid of to make room for all the ones we DO want to see? Start with Sonny and all those Zacharas. Bring back Robt Scorpio, and Tiffany Hill. They even bring on Scott's son, then Scott disappears. Now Scott is coming back but they've killed off his son. How can anyone be happy with this show anymore?

I am so with you Prancer. I have watched this show since 1979 and I am done. I also heard that they couldn't bring Gennie Francis back because of $$ issues. But they bring in a WHOLE new mob family. I'm bummed that Scorpio wont be on GH but Guza DOES NOT know how to write for Robert or Anna based on what we saw this summer with Anna and the shameful way Robert was written on his last visit! I wish TIIC would listen to the FANS!

Of course it's not, Sharon, but this is GH, after all. I think I remember Monica wanting to operate on Alan last year?

Anyhoo, I have my doubts about this, as well as the return of Jagger. I can't remember, but did the powers that be say that Nightshift will be continous with GH or separate? That is, will the characters on GH talk about what's happening on NS? How can Robert JUST be on NS and everyone else who knows him not know on the regular? Will they just talk about him? Same with Jagger.

If I'm reading it right, they'll only show up at NIGHT on GH. And everyone else who knows them won't know they're back.

Remember how nothing connected last season. And how are they going to resolve the finale? Which was STOOPID. We all know that was supposed to be Brenda and her new face was a dead ringer for Robin??!!!

Or will that all be just a dream? [insert heavy sarcasm here]

But the sap/idiot/schmuck in me will tune in to see how it's all explained.

Tristan did a fantastic job on Night Shift on Tuesday! Why can't Sri Rao write for General Hospital and not Port Charles? At least Rao, unlike Guza, respects the show's history and its characters.
