February Sweeps Preview!
Brandon Beemer, Martha Madison, Jay Johnson, Nadia Bjorlin by Paul Drinkwater/NBC
Days of our Lives Four top characters — Philip, Shawn, Chloe and Belle — will hop a private jet to Ireland to find Belle's kidnapped daughter. And go figure: Philip adds to the stress onboard by demanding Belle choose once and for all between Shawn and him. "Could there be worse timing?" Martha Madison says with a laugh. The actress, who plays the freaked-out mom, promises a "huge reveal in Ireland that will tie up over 20 years of story and explain why the DiMeras have such a vendetta against the Bradys." And we finally learn the true identity of Belle's father, John Black (Drake Hogestyn). "It'll change everything in a big way," Madison promises. "Belle's gonna be a DiMera! Who'da thought?"
All My Children It's no secret All My Children's Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) likes men — witness her 11 marriages and countless trysts — but she's never enjoyed an interracial romance. Until now. Actor Mario Van Peebles joins the show this week as Erica's new love interest, Samuel Woods, a hell-raising U.S. DA who is intent on making the rich and powerful pay for their crimes. Erica is instantly enticed, unaware that Woods has an ulterior motive — he's secretly investigating her.
As the World Turns The "Who Killed Dusty?" whodunit takes a weird twist when the killer decides to get revenge against the prime suspect, Lily, and her estranged hubby, Holden, who has taken the blame for the murder. But chaos is good for a broken marriage — before sweeps is over, the couple share a kiss.
The Young & the Restless BAM fan alert! As AMC lovers Bianca and Maggie — aka BAM — Eden Riegel and Elizabeth Hendrickson had a huge die-hard following. Now Hendrickson's headed to The Young and the Restless as Chloe, a hotshot fashion guru who becomes a bad influence on sweet, young Lily. Details in next week's TV Guide!
Guiding Light Harley keeps it all in the family when she has sex with Cyrus, who also happens to be her niece Marina's lover. Gus and Natalia head to the altar.
General Hospital HIV-positive Robin tells Patrick she's pregnant. Tracy is ejected from the Quartermaine mansion. Jason thinks Coop's "suicide" by hanging looks like the work of the Text Message Killer.
The Bold and the Beautiful Demented Stephanie counts her hubby Eric's Viagra pills and discovers he didn't end his affair with Donna like he claims. The upshot, according to a show rep, will send B&B into "new and uncharted territory." For a freaky-deaky soap, that's saying something! —Michael Logan

SPOILER ALERT.... I saw in the latest issue of TV Guide (thank you Michael Logan) that Hope is coming back to Y&R for a week then will die. I loved Hope/Signy Coleman back in the 90's. Just a wonderful and inspirational character and her relationship with Victor was so great. I hate that they're killing her off. I'll have to watch of course but I predict once Hope goes so will I.
Nothing that crew has been pushing has made me want to watch or continue watching when I've seen it.

And thanks to YOU, Sharon, for that delightfully inconsiderate post about Y&R without a FRIKKING SPOILER WARNING. (Not all of us have THAT issue of TV Guide),
No reason to tune in now. Thanks again, Sharon.

DS9Sisko: Wow! No excuse for being so snotty to that other poster. How about stepping AWAY from the keyboard when something so teensy and trivial makes you want to hit Send and zap hate out into the world? Was it worth it? ">
ANYWAY, I can't BELIEVE they killed that sexy Dusty on ATWT! And I think it's about damn time Erica changed it up a lil bit by dating a guy of color. Fun! Welcome to 2008!

Dare2Be...um, ok...wrote: DS9Sisko: Wow! No excuse for being so snotty to that other poster. How about stepping AWAY from the keyboard when something so teensy and trivial makes you want to hit Send and zap hate out into the world? Was it worth it? ">
Yes.
SharonTate: I know I was being snotty and somewhat unfairly so, but it bears keeping in mind that although a lot of people don't mind teasers, not everyone thinks that divulging outright spoilers is "teensy and trivial" (according to Dare2BeFabulous) in this day and age.
Before the internet and backstage passes to every plot development on every show, historically what made soaps "must see tv" was the element of not knowing what would come next. Would Kirk Cranston really kill Eden AND Gina? Would Palmer do something to stop Cliff & Nina's wedding? Would Doug ever marry Julie? Would Karen Wolek really confess to being a hooker on the stand? Would Rachel save Mac from Janice in time? Nicole Drake! Alive?!?!?!
The greatest moments of daytime were never telegraphed so broadly or loudly to the audience, keeping the suspense alive from the dangerous to the mysterious to the romantic. And I submit that one of the many reasons why soaps continue to suffer in the ratings is because we -- the faithful audience -- are robbed of that sense of excitement today. (Good grief, just look at ABC's promos for its returning stars like Rebecca Budig, Debbie Morgan, Darnell Williams and Sarah Brown, great promotional opportunities for the series themselves but telegraphing way too much information about their actual returns and thus diminishing some of the impact).
Now, to be honest, I like a good tease as much as the next person and I am perfectly well aware that we can't put the spoiler genie back in the bottle. But even if spoilers don't bother a segment of the audience, please bear in mind that many people do not want to know exactly what's going to happen next unless we actively go looking for information (such as this column, for example), instead of having excited posters spill about additional information they may have picked up elsewhere.
That's why we have "spoiler warnings," which I see you added to your post since yesterday.

Yeah, what is up with the lack of OLTL goodness?
The Lily character turning into the Amber character might result in one of two things: 1) the shallow, predictably "dangerous" Amber character (who worked wonders in B&B all those years ago) or 2) a very interesting, multi-dimensional character with actual inner turmoil (which the current goody-goody Lily doesn't have an ounce of). Considering how Latham's sour storylines haven't run out yet, I'm thinking it's gonna be result #1.
Does anyone even remember the last time any of the Y&R characters had internal conflict? They're like cardboard cutouts of their former selves.

Once again I am sorry.
But you know everything that appears in this column is just a forward like a week later from the soap column of TV Guide. It isn't like when Daniel was running this column.
So I predict that the news about Hope will be on here soon. Officially.

SharonTate: Don't apologize. She's the idiot who came in to read an article titled "February Sweeps Preview" then complains that she was spoiled. Idiot.

Ms.MikeyCera, it might be more helpful for you to actually read my posts to get the gist of what was said and criticize the points I made (which you haven't and, rest assured, you can't) before stooping so low as to name call (which is something I never did). And, it might even be more helpful to your own cause if you investigated my gender before you assumed I was female, which I am not.
SharonTate, I accept your apology. I hope you accept mine for my tone.

For God's sake, will all you people just stop harping on each other regarding upcoming soap plots? PLEASE!!!
I am rather neutral on this battle these fans are bickering about. On one hand I like to read spoiler alerts while on the other I love to be surprised by story lines because the writers usually (not always) throw a twist in their plots that we the audience never saw coming.
But since the writer's strike is still occurring as I type this, I think we all should be thankful we have some information (whether it's spoilers or not) concerning our favorite shows.
I think the daytime serials are having a more difficult time with this strike, especially if the original writers may or may not be creating these new story ideas for their respective shows.
These daytime dramas could use a little help from outside sources to assist them in creating quality programming. At the moment, I am corresponding with a lady I met from this web site, and we discuss plot ideas for the soaps. I am glad I met her through this site. I won't name who she is, but she knows.
You all can still email me at todd670929@msn.com if you want to discuss this post further or any other ideas for storylines for both daytime and prime time shows.
Thanks.
To that end, people, please stop arguing. What good is going to do?

Thanks for the picture from Days. I can't believe they are stupid enough to let a talent like Martha Madison go - someone else will snap her up, I'm sure.
