Nipped Tuck: Tweaked OLTL Tale Adds "Original" Jess

What the Tuck? There's already a hitch in those fantastic One Life to Live 40th anniversary plans I revealed earlier this week. Fan fave Jessica Tuck, who was supposed to be seen in a Heaven sequence as her late, great character Megan, had to bow out of the gig yesterday due to a scheduling conflict. (Souces say the conflict is High School Musical 3, but I have no confirmation of that).

This is not just a big disappointment for us Tuck-anistas, it's a big headache for the show because her appearance was no mere cameo. OLTL head writer Ron Carlivati had wanted Megan to serve as a celestial guide for her mama Viki (Erika Slezak), who will visit the Great Beyond after dying in a car crash — a major two-day plot twist (airing July 21-22) that riffs on one of the soap's most famous stories from the 1980s.

The scenes shoot this coming Monday. The clock is ticking. What to do? Carlivati, who is quite the brain-stormer, quickly picked a different dead Megan to be Viki's guide — that would be Megan's namesake (and Viki's granddaughter), baby Megan, who died by miscarriage in 1999 when her mom, Jessica, was the victim of a hit-and-run.

Back then, Jessica was played by another fan sensation, the much-missed Erin Torpey — and that's who's gonna come back to the show and play baby Megan in Heaven! Granted, it's a little weird, but it's certainly a creative way to solve a casting crisis! — Michael Logan

I am sorry Jessica Tuck won't be on the show, but having Erin Torpey makes up for it. I am excited to see what she looks like now, and it is a great way to add another "old" character.

Sorry to hear that Jessica Tuck was not able to be on the show but I am happy that Erin (original Jessica) will be back playing baby Megan (Jessica's daughter). It is a little strange but this is the soap opera world and I am looking forward to it.

They should bring back Susan Batten who portrayed the much beloved Luna Moody Holden from 1991-1995!!!

Is it just me, or does the picture at the top of the story creep anyone else out?

I wouldn't say it creeped me out but I do think Erin has much better pictures floating about.

This whole 2 day tribute sounds fun, though.

Hey, and kudos to Phil Carey for coming back to the show after the way that Frons & Co. dumped him after years of great service to the show.

Weird, but totally up OLTL's alley, especially where Viki's concerned. Here's hoping that maybe Erin Torpey will return as Jessica someday...

I too am disappointed that Jessica Tuck cannot make this appearance I loved Megan & Jake. Their finally scenes were awesome. But seeing Erin again will be cool. I also agree that they should bring back Luna.

Sorry it worked out this way but I'm glad Erin Torpey will be filling in.
That Ron Carlivati is a keeper.

No, the pic didn't creep me out but I think someone at TV Guide could have put down the nailpolish a little longer and found a better one. This has happened before. Don't we remember the Noelle Beck photo?

And yes, BIG kudos to Phil Carey for coming back after the way Frons dumped him.
I think Frons needs to get dumped.

Nothing that happens on soaps would surprise me, especially OLTL. This show is known for its revisionist history. When I was a kid, I saw Dorian kill Victor Lord deader 'n a hammer. A few decades later (I can't believe how well both Robin Strauss (sp) and Erica Sleazak (sp) have held up!), we find out Dorian just thought she'd done it. Turns out it was Vick . . . er . . . Nick . . . whomever.

It sounds like a creative way out of a jam. Kudos!

Sorry, but I love Bree as Jessica, please leave her where she is...can't really say I miss Erin Torpey all that much! Kinda cool how they're going to work her in but I really don't want her back as Jess
