Daytime Emmys: One Life Takes Early Lead
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on Friday night handed out this year's Daytime Emmys in the creative arts categories, and ABC's One Life to Live bested all other soaps, with four wins. Here's who won what:
Art/Set Direction: As the World Turns, The Young and the Restless (tie)
Costume Design: OLTL
Multi-Camera Editing: The Bold and the Beautiful
Hairstyling: Days of Our Lives
Lighting Direction: OLTL
Make-up: ATWT
Sound Mixing: Guiding Light
Music Direction and Composition: GL
Technical Direction: All My Children
Original Song: "Chemistry," OLTL; "Little Starr," OLTL (tie)

I'm a bit surprised they don't put the Original Song award during the main presentation and take the opportunity to throw in some big, overblown production numbers centering on singing soap stars or guest singers or American Idol contestants singing the songs. It's exactly the kind of thing most awards shows do to make them even more of an ordeal to watch.

Yay! OLTL! Congratulations.
I wish they'd won for makeup too. I have no idea what ATWT makeup is like, but the women on OLTL always look perfect, and the makeup is always appropriate. Not like GH where it looks like everyone is made up from the same palette (and pretty much has been for the last 20 years!)

I would have liked to have seen OLTL tie w/ Y&R for set decoration.
The sets on OLTL blow me away just like the ones on Y&R.
ATWT - not so much.
