Days of our Lives Casting Nuggets
• Days of our Lives has found a new actress to play Patch and Kayla's daughter, Stephanie: It's Shelley Hennig, who was Miss Teen USA 2004. She first airs on the NBC sudser on Friday, April 20. Steph was previously portrayed by redhead Shayna Rose. • Shanna Ferrigno — whose daddy is Lou Ferrigno of Hulk fame — plays a policewoman who investigates Willow the pyromaniac prostitute on Wednesday, April 18.
• Jed Reynolds — son of James Reynolds, who plays Salem police commander Abe Carver — is following in his pop's flat footsteps. He plays Officer Grierson on Tuesday, April 17 and Wednesday, April 18.

So tell me again why did they fire Shayna Rose? It just doesn't make sense.

Let's face it, ladybugor. Rose was cute, but rather boring. Plus, she had no chemistry with Darin Brooks (Max). Also, Days head writer Hogan Sheffer didn't want Max dating his cousin anyway, so there was really nothing for the Stephanie character to do.
All that racecar driving nonsense was boring, too... You'll notice that Days has let go of that stuff. I think the show decided to let Rose go and bring Stephanie back with a new actress once they had some idea what to do with the character.
Just my two cents. --Daniel

i don't think shayna rose was very good, i thought they would try to get someone with acting experience, so hopefully this one will work out. i just read in the tvguide that we will finally know why the dimeras hate the bradys this summer with john, marlena, bo, hope, patch and kayla all involved, i really hope that stefano comes back for this, without him the story will be weak.

Daniel, I totally agree with you on her entire storyline. I'll even agree with you on her not having chemistry with out of this world hottie Darin Brooks. But when you said she was "cute" even I had to say "where"? Be honest, you know that the only time she was "cute" is when her face wasn't facing the camera and all you could see was her gourgeous long hair. I'm telling you everytime she smiled, she looked constipated. Anyway, I'm sure NuStephanie would do amazing.

Stephanie was one of those characters who completely changed personalities the moment HS took over as writer. Prior to him, she was a confident, likeable sort and pretty mature. After HS took over, she became an insecure whiner. I liked Shayna and was sorry to see her written off in such a sad manner.
Five will get you ten she'll return as a troublemaker. It seems to be more in line with what HS wants for this show.
And let's not even talk about acting ability; Stephen Nichols is chewing so much scenery there shouldn't be a set left. And vets like Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn have turned the ham factor WAAAAAAAAAAAY up.

I'm glad Shayna left. I never liked her. She had weird lips that detracted from everything else.
But this new casting doesn't make much sense. I hope she is going to dye her hair blonde as both Kayla and Steve have blonde hair and any child they have would also have blonde hair. I don't know what eye color they have, but if it's blue, Steph should have blue eyes as well.
Little things like this bother me....
I hope Will-Ho is on her way out. And her brother Jed too. They've both been miserable since the days they started.

BTW Daniel, what is the status on Abby? I guess Ashley Benson is leaving Days in a couple months. Will Days be recasting Abby? If they do, I hope they get someone better than the one taking over for Ash for a couple days. She is too old for the role.

Old Stephanie was okay, but i'd like to see someone that does actually resemble Kayla and Steve, good point...also "new" Abby was aweful and i hope they can either convince Ashley Benson to stay or get someone just like her cuz she was a perfect Abby and speaking of recasting, any news on Jason Cook coming back? i miss him sooo much, i'm sorry but i just don't like new Shawn at all - and i know there was a rumon that Jason would come back but not as Shawn, that would be a big mistake, unless maybe as Brady? better yet, switch new Shawn as Brady and give Jason back the role he was born to play Shawn Douglas Brady!

sincehs, Ashley was cast in a movie, so I doubt she'd stay, which is a shame because like you said, she's perfect as Abby.
I also don't like nuShawn. Kept hoping they'd recast him, but it doesn't look like they will.

I'm sort of that same way about nuShawn too. The only time I like him is whenever he's shirtless.

wyldchild, you must be reading my mind! My friend and I say the same thing about nuShawn.
I don't like his eyebrows.
And ditto on your post regarding Rose. Never thought she was "cute." Her storyline was stupid (to think that Max wouldn't know what his niece looked like was assinine). Racing and dating your uncle--not a good soap story.

The problem with the character of Stephanie was they never knew what to do with her. I would have been fine if they just brought her back to meet her Dad and then had her leave. The way they wrote her was just unimaginable when she first came back. Lusting after her uncle (who neither one knew what the other looked like) after knowing him for all of 5 mins. The day she meets her dad you would think that she would be there asking him questions and talking to him, no she runs off to a club with Max?? The only time I really warmed up to her was right before she was about to leave and her scenes with Abby and Chelsea. They made a good threesome.
I am just interested in what capacity they are going to bring her back to?

This new Stephanie is SO much cuter than the last one. I can't wait to see if she can act better than the last few new characters such as Jed and Willow. What is wrong with Willow and Nick's mouths? I can't stand to watch them!! The old Stephanie was boring and I hated her storyline. I do like this Abbey better than the one that actually plays her. I do think it is stupid that we are supposed to believe that she can change oil and fix cars when she is what, 15??

Shameless plug alert, suds fans!
As long as you're doing your last-minute holiday shopping anyway, I just thought I'd remind ya that my book, The Q Guide to Soap Operas, makes a great soapy stocking stuffer.
FYI: You can now order autographed copies from our own TV Guide Store.
They're offering this due to all the e-mails I've gotten from folks who really, really want signed copies of the book, even if they can't get to one of my book-signing events.
By the way, I'm not the type of author who just carelessly scrawls an illegible autograph inside a book jacket. Not only do I give good cursive handwriting, I do pretty doodles! (I'm a bit of a frustrated visual artist.)
Get your autographed copies of The Q Guide to Soap Operas right here!
