Will ATWT Fans Be Loving Lily Recast Noelle Beck?

They said they would recast, and they did. As the World Turns announced on Wednesday that Noelle Beck — whom daytime fans surely remember as the super-dewy Trisha (as in Trisha-and-Steve/chump and Trisha-and-Trucker) on ABC's Loving — will be succeeding Martha Byrne in the role of Lily Snyder beginning Thursday, May 8.

Me, I thought the beautiful Beck's post-daytime career was definitely going somewhere when she turned up in Fletch Lives. But then... not much happened. Most recently, she appeared in an episode of Cashmere Mafia. — Matt Webb Mitovich

It took me a few seconds to get the pun in your title. :)

I'm willing to give her a chance. It's sad that Martha B is gone but Lily is too important of a character just to write out. I'm anxious to see how Noelle does.

Could TV Guide pick a worse picture of her to use for this article?!
Oh my goodness. There are better ones out there. Please put down the nail polish and find one.

I remember and loved her as Trisha on Loving. (Her and Trucker were dy-no-mite.) I also saw her on an episode of Rescue Me last season and she was pretty damn good.

The fans are going to slam her. Recasts in this type of situation always do get slammed. (Do we remember when they recast Connor in the 90s?) She's an actress taking a job which is what I hope people will remember.

Chris Goutman, Barbara Bloom, and P&G (and any other suit I forgot to name) are the ones who let our beloved Martha Byrne go. Raspberries for all of them.

I just don't know what to think here.
What I do know is I'm pretty disgusted with ATWT right now and haven't watched in the last several weeks. The dumb stories (this means you especially Noah/Ameera/Luke) and the firing of several favorites pretty much sealed the deal for me.
But I will watch a little more because I want to see Gwen/Will leave and also our divine Martha Byrne.
Beyond that I don't know. That show has gotten to be waste of time which really shocks me cuz like 2 months ago it was so great. Sometimes I'd watch an episode twice.

It'll be difficult to see anyone else in the role of Lily other than Martha (I know they recasted once before when Martha left in the early 90's, but I never did get used to her), but I think this one could work. I loved Noelle as Trisha on "Loving" and have enjoyed seeing her over the years in various projects (Big's first wife on "Sex & The City" and most recently on "Cashmere Mafia") and will be glad to see her back on tv on a regular basis. Best of luck to her! Martha's shoes will no doubt be difficult to fill, but I think if anyone can do it, Noelle can.

No one can replace the real Lilly. This one looks old enough to be Martha's mother. I can't believe ATWT is attempting to recast this role. I will no longer be watching ATWT.

Noelle (12/14/68) is only a year older than Martha (12/23/69).

Don't judge Noelle's looks from that picture. She's actually aged better than Martha IMO. I know some will balk, but actually I don't think ATWT could have done any better than this recast. Welcome back to daytime Noelle!

Don't judge Noelle's looks from that picture.

I agree. That pic isn't the best one of Noelle.

Here is a much more flattering one of her ... http://quandosiama.altervista.org/personaggi/trishapers.JPG

When I started watching ATWT in 1991 Heather Rattray was playing Lily and I didn't think she was all that bad.
She and Jon Hensley were excellent during the miscarriage storyline.
That Lily though was very corporate.

But when Martha Byrne came back during the Italy remote (I still remember her singing in the club and Holden hearing her outside) she really made me a fan and endeared me to her.
I also loved when Rose D'Angelo was on.

I just can't believe she's leaving. I'm still going through it.

I love Noelle Beck. How about this ATWT?
We keep Martha Byrne and have Noelle be a recast Ellie Snyder?

Though I'm not happy to see Martha Byrne go, I'm happy that the show got someone like Noelle Beck.

I was nervous when I heard the show wanted to get a name actress. I had horrible flashbacks of when Glynnis O'Conner took over the role of Margo Hughes (for about a week) from Ellen Dolen. Luckily Ellen Dolen returned right away.

Part of me dreads the day ATWT will at last be canceled. The other part of me can't help but realize it's already dead.

I'm sure this actress is fine but she's walking into an impossible situation. ATWT is hemorrhaging it's best actors and filling the screen with people we don't care about. As was mentioned in the Michael Logan/Martha Byrne interview, the best scene in months was Barbara telling Kim about her cancer. But with the way things are going, who's to say these two talented actresses and veterans aren't on their way out as well? And then there will be no more scenes like this to cling to.

It's just sad

Oh wasn't she on Central Park West? Nice! I'm glad they got someone with some good daytime/soap/TV experience. I was dreading a newbie. Sad to see Martha go but this at leas tis encouraging.

I've never been a fan of ATWT, only watching when ANOTHER WORLD WAS CANCELLED, and some of it's characters came to the show, i would check into from time to time and i do think LILY is the main reason to watch the show and i was a HUGE FAN OF "LOVING" and i'm beyond excited to see noelle beck playing the role, i think i'll start watching ATWT now.

From one Noelle to another, welcome! I'm sad to see Martha Byrne go, but I truly wish Noelle Beck success in this role.

I personally think Noelle has developed more dramatic range over the decades than Martha Byrne. (She has surprised me in most of the primetime roles I've seen her in). If people can't accept her as Lily, they are just too biased to see both beauty and talent. She is the Diane Lane of television.
