Wow. GH isn't nominated for best drama. I am surprised about that one. Since GH is the only soap I watch I can't really comment on the other nominees but I am glad that julie marie berman was nominated.

No disrespect to the CBS soaps, which are generally my favorites, but it is completely unfair for them to garner more votes, just because they obviously have more shows.
NBC shows are especially doomed with only 2, and soon only 1 show in the mix.
The Emmys need to revamp the process, perhaps have a select group of people who are intimately involved with the daytime industry, yet not affiliated with any show or network, to select the nominees.
And they should be based on at least 5 full tapes. These actors work their butts off in hundreds of episodes a year, and to be rewarded for only one episode is outrageous.
The system is hopelessly flawed.
There also need to be better guidlines as to who is "Lead" and who is "Supporting", because let's face it, NO ONE could honestly say Jeanne Cooper was Lead last year at Y&R.

Thanks for posting the list so quickly! Can I just say go Genie! I do hope she wins but in one way it is a little unfair to all the other supporting actresses who work year round.
GH not getting the nomination for Best Drama I feel is down to some of the very poor use of veterns and cast members and on the same note lack of story arches that include more then the same 5 characters. So I find it ironic that GH got a writing nomination!

Y'know, it's just not fair. Allison Sweeney has finally had a chance to show her chops, and the girl does have chops, with a great head writer giving them all something to work with at Days, and she doesn't get the nod! I could see the rest of the show being overlooked, but that girl has done some amazing work over the last 6 months, and I never thought I could say that about Days again after the last couple of years... a real shame that she wasn't nominated. Daniel, when next you speak to her, please tell her that we have noticed, and we are proud.

I hope anyone who might be foolish enough to consider hiring Megan McTavish again will note that AMC was virtually shut out this year. Although it's my main daytime drama, it's particularly satisfying to see McT's havoc reflected in the Emmy nominations.
And Daniel, I echo the earlier mention, thanking you for getting the nominations up so quickly. That's why among the fans, you're the man!

I, for one, am shocked that Trevor St. John and Kristen Alderson didn't get nominated. They were amazing during the execution story on OLTL. Trevor had me crying about Todd Manning! Todd Manning, of all people! I never thought that would happen. That alone is worthy of a nomination in my book.

I'm not too happy that GH didn't get a nomination, but since they've won so many in the past couple of years I don't mind so much (even though Lucky's drug addiction and Laura coming back were amazing).
No Michael E. Knight, no Jacob Young! I know that AMC's storylines last were pretty bad, but those guys always bring their A game and AMC might not be able to hang on to a young talent like Jacob Young for much longer.
Poor Kristian Alfonso.

The only nomination I'm interested in (other than the ones for B&B) is the one for Lesli Kay. I do not understand why NBC was again ignored. Are they blacklisted?
I watch Days and B&B. Katherine Kelly Lang has been continously ignored. And there are several terrific actors on Days on par with those nominated. What is the reason Days and its actors have been ignored time after time?
Alison Sweeney and Kristian were great. I even think Rachel Melvin may have deserved recognition. Bryan Dattilo has been fab. James Scott should be nominated next year, but won't be if he's still on Days.
Daniel, when was the last time an actor on Days was nominated and when is the last time a Days actor won?

How could Regis & Kelly not be nominated??? They are the most entertaining talk show on TV. The chemistry between the two of them is amazing. The View on the otherhand is a slug fest with everyone talking at the same time. It's no longer worth watching since you can't understand what is being said with all of them competing to be heard.

Well, R&K wouldn't win, so what's the diff? For some reason Ellen wins every year. I think it's time she copied Oprah and took her name out of contention.

How could Regis & Kelly not be nominated??? They are the most entertaining talk show on TV. The chemistry between the two of them is amazing. I totally agree!!!! Even though I like Rachel's cooking shows on Food TV I don't like her talk show and I don't think she should have been nominated

Shameless plug alert, suds fans!
As long as you're doing your last-minute holiday shopping anyway, I just thought I'd remind ya that my book, The Q Guide to Soap Operas, makes a great soapy stocking stuffer.
FYI: You can now order autographed copies from our own TV Guide Store.
They're offering this due to all the e-mails I've gotten from folks who really, really want signed copies of the book, even if they can't get to one of my book-signing events.
By the way, I'm not the type of author who just carelessly scrawls an illegible autograph inside a book jacket. Not only do I give good cursive handwriting, I do pretty doodles! (I'm a bit of a frustrated visual artist.)
Get your autographed copies of The Q Guide to Soap Operas right here!
