Despite the star-powered Saturday night at the Directors Guild Awards, there remains a cloud (and yes, literal rain) on the 2008 awards season. The DGA Awards carpet was divided in two, one where celebs (such as Daniel Day-Lewis, Anna Paquin and Josh Brolin) posed for photogs, and another where actors did interviews. A stunning Debra Messing walked the carpet with screenwriter husband Daniel Zelman. Oscar nominee Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose) was adorably overwhelmed by the awards season saying, "You don't have so many red carpets [in France], so it's very, very different."
But undoubtedly the hit of the evening was the charming Kristin Chenoweth. The petite star of Pushing Daisies did a cute bit onstage with costar Chi McBride in which he picked her up to help her see the teleprompter, and repeated the lift in the press room later. Chenoweth wore a Reese Dwifen dress and tells TV Guide she'll be doing a music tour and an opera in London this May, if the strike continues.
