The weather for the red-carpet premiere of Fool's Gold was blustery, but leading man Matthew McConaughey seemed anything but chilly. Though he didn't bare his famous abs, he did go coatless as he strolled into the theater munching on green M&Ms and pontificating about fatherhood. "I'll be a cool dad," he assured reporters. "We're going to be outside as much as we can be. And whatever sport they pick up, I hope they have rhythm." Questioned about the sex of the baby, he remained coy: "We're not going to find out until the baby greets the day."
When it came to the expectant mother, Camila Alves, McConaughey seemed awestruck. "She's cruising," he said of how she's handling the pregnancy. "Camila's one of the coolest women, coolest people I've ever met. Now that she's pregnant, it's almost like she's even more [cool]."
Of his on-screen chemistry with Fool's Gold costar Kate Hudson, McConaughey said, "We fight well and we flirt well. It's a sort of, 'I hate to see you leave, but I love to watch you go' relationship. That you can catch that on film, I think that's what keeps it alive."
Following not far behind McConaughey on the red carpet, Hudson elaborated, "We have a little bit of competitiveness with each other and definitely know how to push each other's buttons really well, which I think is probably why most couples can relate to us." Can America expect to see that on-screen chemistry again in the future? "It was great," Hudson said of the experience. "Done it before [in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days], did it again, and I'll do it again if we can." — Bekah Wright
