First Look at X-Files Movie Trailer: Is Love in the Air?
Straight from Wednesday evening's X-Files panel at the Paley Festival, we got a first look at a new trailer for the upcoming movie.
Directed by Chris Carter, there are plenty of scenes with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson — and love might even be in the air. In one scene, for example, Mulder says to Scully, "I need you on this [case]." Scully responds, "That's what scares me."
In another scene, a romantic mood finds Mulder with his hand on Scully's face. The trailer concludes with a shot of them walking away from a helicopter together, as a voice-over from Duchovny says, "I want to believe." Check out this guerilla footage:
Shortly after the first screening of the teaser, the fans asked Chris Carter for a second look, and he happily agreed. The crowd that had gone nuts at the first showing reacted even more strongly when they could fully soak up the images a second time around. The film's story seems to begin with a young girl that is taken by something, prompting a massive FBI search effort that takes place in a large snowy field. Interspersed between the images are messages from the show's past about "beliefs" and "truths." Smash to black... then the famous, eerie tones of the theme song filled the air.
A barrage of images then flash across the screen, some dark and scary, and then we see our heroes Mulder and Scully looking older but fabulous. Judging from Scully's reaction to Mulder asking for her help, she's been away from the FBI for a while... but perhaps not away from him. (The trailer showed a glimpse of a lovey-dovey shot of the pair about to kiss.)
A bonus tidbit comes directly from Carter on the press line: Baby William, whom so many of you asked about, will be addressed in the movie in some fashion. You heard it here first!
Keep up with us for more from the X-citing event. — Erin Fox
Haha I knew it would be up on YouTube by the time I got home, I saw at least 10 people not-so-secretly recording it in the theater. The girl next to me got busted though!
The trailer is awesome, the panel was great too! They did an AWESOME little retrospective of the show to start things off. The whole thing made me want to lock myself in a room and just watch TXF for three days. Anyway, bottom line is I think the movie looks pretty promising! Also Chris said shooting JUST finished 10 days ago, pretty impressive that they put such a compelling trailer together so quickly. "Believe again." Can't wait!
That link is for the teaser trailer that was showwn at Wondercon in San Francisco. The new trailer has parts of that in but alot more. Hopefully the new trailer will be up soon on you tube.
It's Erin Fox-- I couldn't record the trailer at the festival (darn journalistic integrity!), but many fans had their phones and cameras ready. I was hoping YouTube would be buzzing with the new trailer tonight.
Youtube chose an unfortunate time to undergo maintenance right now, but the trailer is on google video. The last 10 seconds were cut off b/c security intervened. But I'm sure more of these will show up soon.
There was ALWAYS love in the air. When the series ended it was clear they were a couple, and truly, I won't watch the movie until someone I trust tells me that they don't screw that up.
Erin, I can't believe you were there! I seriously combed the crowd for you, Mitovich, Roush, Ausiello, even Maitland! Where were you sitting? I was off on the side, but I still got a good enough look at the stage. Awesome night, eh?
I was in the very last row of the first section by the video cameras...right in the middle. They were great seats. I was so excited to be there... I soooo thought this kind of event was never going to happen since the show has been over for so long. Everyone I spoke to was so kind and generous. I LOVED that Chris had his camera there to take pics of the event. I wish it had lasted longer. Good times.
