Is Shia's Injury Slowing Down Transformers 2?

It took superhuman strength to battle the bad guys in Transformers, but Shia LaBeouf's hand injury may be enough to halt some of the action on Transformers 2.

The actor, who is undergoing surgery on his hand — following a Sunday car accident and arrest on suspicion of DUI — will be on hiatus from shooting the film for up to a month. While the studio tells Variety that no days have been lost as a result of the crash, a source insists that even so, LaBeouf's absence is creating logistical issues for everyone involved — including Josh Duhamel, who was scheduled to shoot scenes with Shia this week.

Another source claims that at least two days of filming have been lost, but the director did not comment. When Shia does return, how will he get back to business as usual? — Anna Dimond

I really enjoy when these stars act up when they're given such an opportunity to be in a movie. Did you not SEE what happened to Lindsay Lohan?

Anyway, I can see how that would halt the action and everything. Honestly, as the director I would be upset. Not only are you holding up production but obviously other actors as well for your added carelessness regardless of the fact the other person blew the stop sign, you're still drinking and driving.

Maybe he needs to hit rock bottom as well before he wakes up.

What's so sad is that he realizes he can't drink responsibly (said so in a recent article, something along the line of "I don't know how to have just one drink."), yet he doesn't seem to be able to help himself.:(

At least he RECOGNIZES it, so I hope that will be a first step. I have friends who did the same thing (did not know how/when to stop) and flat out denied it.

I do take issue with him blaming his dad (in the same article tvfan1957 mentioned) for his problem - my parents always let me have a glass of wine with them when I was growing up and I never had any issues with knowing how to drink appropriately.

My bad. That was from his 07 arrest. Still pretty cute, huh?

This just makes me sad. He is such a young and talented man and yet obviously already a severe alcoholic. I just hope he can get his act together sooner rather than later or he's got the Downey Jr. rollercoaster ahead of him. Thankfully things seemed to have finally worked for Downey Jr. to all our benefits in terms of his great entertainment value.
