Sex and the City Sequel: What's the Story?

If there's going to be a sequel to the Sex and the City movie, it's going to happen soon — that is, if you ask Willie Garson, who plays Carrie's pal Stanford.

TV Guide talked to Garson at Scrabble Under the Stars, an event organized by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "If [SATC writer-producer] Michael [Patrick King] has a story to tell, there will be [a sequel]," said the actor. "The movie has made barrels of money and that usually smells like a sequel. But this one has to be a little more delicately handled. We gave the fans what they wanted. So now what? Is it just more, or does he have a story that needs to be told?"

For Garson it's more a matter of timing. "It can't happen in too long. They still want us to take our shirts off at some point, and it can't be the 'Golden Girls and the City.'"

What's your take? What plot point would you center Sex and the City 2 on? A baby for Carrie? Maybe one of her books is made into a $300 million movie...? — Carita Rizzo

Let it go. This is where movie makers make mistakes in filming a sequel when there is no warrant for one. They get money hungry and develop a subpar sequel that could ruin the series for the myriad of fans out there.

Not another Sequel! The last one was actually painful to watch considering the high quality writing, acting of the series. I found myself checking my watch. The girls came off as caricatures of themselves. Let's not even go into the shoddy production. The series was one of the best on TV. The movie was forgettable.

eh. I'll probably watch it. Just keep the same formula as the series like they did for this movie and I'm sure I'll be in line with all the other ladies.

What more is there to tell? As much as I love SATC...it went out on a high note, let's leave it that way.

I am a HUGE fan of the show and the movie, but leave it alone! We got what we wanted as fans so why go any further!! The girls are all in NYC and we've gotten our conclusions to the show. GO OUT WHILE ON TOP!!!!!

No movie should ever be made unless there's a story to tell, but that rule gets broken all the time!

I loved the way the show ended, and while I do wish they'd have left it there, I enjoyed the movie. However, it'd be hard to film another movie without some sort of drama, and after suffering through bad relationships along with the women for 7 years, I just wanted to leave them in a happy place.

I loved the way the tv show ended. And then, guess what? I loved the movie! The women were fantastic. So if they want to do another movie, I'll be there. I don't think Sex and the City has made a wrong step yet.

Please, NO sequel! There is no more story to tell. The show was wrapped up okay on tv - there was a little more, but we could have done without the movie. Though I did enjoy the movie for it's entertainment value. A sequel would be absolutely horrible.

Yes I LOVE SEX & THE CITY. Please let there be a sequel. A sequel about Samantha. She was the only one in the movie that had a hard time with love and didn't get married. I would like the producer to do a movie about Samantha true loves Smith Jarred, and Richard and Samantha towards the end would have to make a decision which ones she really wants to married. Also, I would like something in the movie about Charlotte even though she had a baby of her own her marriage is way too perfect. Come on, in the real world there is no such thing as a perfect marriage. Like Charlotte husband dies and Trey comes back or Charlotte husband doesn't die but Trey comes back for Charlotte. Sexy in the City is about 4 women lives. And what about Stanford and Anthony they started kissing in the movie?? Last thing I know wasn't Stanford seeing this hottie and Anthony didn't like Stanford at all? and here they were kissing! I would like for those two to hook up in the sequel. No Sex in the City has too much of a story line for it to end. It should continue on the big screen or on TV.
