Watch out, all you la-la land lawbeaters. Detective Alex Foley is back and he's coming after you.

Eddie Murphy has signed on to star in a fourth version of Beverly Hills Cop, scheduled for release in 2010.

Variety reports Murphy himself approached Paramount brass about reviving the comedy franchise that first hit the big screen in 1984. Brett Ratner is in talks to direct the film.

This will be Detective Foley's first visit to theaters sine the third installment of the Cop series was released in 1994. — J.R. Whalen

"Variety reports Murphy himself approached Paramount brass about reviving the comedy franchise that first hit the big screen in 1984."

That's just sad.

And NO, I DON'T want another one. The first one was great. The second one, okay. They should've stopped at 2. But noooooo....

The first 2 were good, but I thought the 3rd one would have killed off the franchise for good. On the plus side they'd have to really screw it up to make it worse then some of his more recent (live action, i.e. not Shrek) movies?

Eddie should see if Alan Arkin will be in it.

Hope it has the charm of the first (maybe Martin Breast should come back to direct since Gigli has made him unemployed right now) and none of the bombasticness of the second (Tony Scott really shouldn't have been involved!). Have not seen the third though I might if I decide to become a John Landis completist...

Hmm...3 wasn't the best, but let's home for some Alan Arkin and Bronson Pinchot to make Axel's newest adventure fun.

No, I'm not ready but if the script is good and they get Judge Reinhold and Ronny Cox in it then it may be worth watching.

I was just saying that I can't wait for them to make this! With all the older series coming back it just makes sense. After all it can't be worse than any of Eddies more recent movies :P

I have no interest in watching anything with Eddie Murphy in it. The way he has treated the people in his life the last few years has caused me to have no desire to see him in any movie.

We'll see just what kind of actor Eddie really is. I loved him in the previous BHC movies...let's hope that he can get back into the groove.
