Does MGM have a Bourne winner? The studio has beat out several rivals to grab rights to Robert Ludlum's The Matarese Circle (shop Amazon), a Cold War-set thriller about two spies, one from the CIA and one from the KGB, who reluctantly team up to bring down an international cabal of killers called the Matarese.

Michael Brandt and Derek Haas (3:10 to Yuma) will pen the script, and Denzel Washington is loosely attached to play the American agent. — Matt Mitovich

Loosely attached? WTH does that mean?

Probably means that they 'loosely' offered him the part but haven't 'attached' a salary for him to accept the role. Idea sounds good though. I hope they pick someone good for the other spy role and this turns out good.

Ooooh.. how about Viggo Mortensen for the KGB agent? I just saw Eastern Promises and I'm hoping for another naked fight scene!
