Does the World Need Another Lone Ranger?
Is the world ready for a new Lone Ranger? Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are in talks with writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio to write a big-screen adaptation of the story of the masked man, his white stallion Silver and his Native American companion Tonto.
Yeah, I know what you're thinking. Isn't the concept of the Lone Ranger a little dated? Maybe, but as the Hollywood Reporter astutely points out, Elliott and Rossio are the gents who wrote both The Mask of Zorro and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, so they know a thing or two about freshening old genres. If anyone can make the Ranger hip, it's them.
In which case: Hi-yo, Bruckheimer, away! — Mickey O'Connor
