The caper drama 21, in which card-counting MIT eggheads look to break the bank at a Vegas casino, topped the weekend box office with a $23.7 million haul. Placing second was Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!, which with $17.4 mil brought its total-to-date to $117.2 million.
Rounding out the weekend's top five were Superhero Movie (opening with $9.5 mil), Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns ($7.8 mil) and Drillbit Taylor ($5.8 mil).
Among other new arrivals, Stop-Loss' attempt to soft-pedal its Iraq War theme via O.C.-like marketing was for naught, as it grossed a mere $4.5 mil, landing it at No. 8. — MWM
