CBS Shows Mother Love, Drops Jericho and More

As per Variety, CBS has axed the struggling drama Close to Home and the sitcom The Class. The trade mag also hears (as did Ausiello) that Jericho has not been renewed. Meanwhile Rules of Engagement lives on.

The Eye, though, isn't totally blind: How I Met Your Mother will see a third season. Previous pickups include The Unit, Numbers, Ghost Whisperer, all three CSIs, NCIS and Shark. — Reporting by Raven Snook

Come on CBS... what about How I Met Your Mother? I guess I have to wait a whole day.

Edit: Yay!!! HIMYM renewed! Barney lives!

But the Eye isn't totally blind: How I Met Your Mother will see a third season.

Well, thank goodness for that at least. I'm still pissed about Jericho, though.

Thanks for the good news on Mother, Raven!

Not surprised at all at CBS canceling The Class. Last year, they canceled the future classic (and the smartest, funniest sitcom in years) Out of Practice. This year, they cancel their best sitcom yet again, The Class. CBS is not about quality; they're about cookie-cutter garbage shows that get little or no buzz.

Thank goodness for How I love your Mother! I love that show! I'm glad that CBS picked it up for another season. Too bad about The Class, that show started to grow on my while sandwiched in between Mother and Men. It did get somewhat better before the end of their season. Maybe we can hope for a mid season replacement??????

I was so worried about Mother after last night's season finale. It was so funny and I would have been truly sad if it was cancelled. Why was NCIS picked up? Didn't its star leave the show. Do they think it still going to be a hit with a new lead.

I agree with qualitytvfan. Although that show wasnt a hit and amazing it had something to it. It could have developed and it was in the process of doing so. CBS is called the eye network only because it so scrutingly (if thats a word lol!) judges its shows. The class couldve been a great show- a hit like friends. it had the great actors with a buildup of chemistry and the worst part is that well never get to find out what happens to the classmates! Screw CBS! The Class was decent and couldve turned to an amazing dramedy! How the hell did How i met your mother get picked up again and the class didnt they have basically the same ratings!

Chris, noone left NCIS except one of the micro-managing execs. All is good.

Yeah for HIMYM, what about New Christine?

CBS killed Jericho with the long hiatus, they should be ashamed of themselves, and should have given it the chance it deserves.

The Class would have definately done better in a different time slot. And HIMYM is an awesome show. Thanks CBS.

Raven - thanks for the great news about How I Met Your Mother! I was so worried that last night's episode would be the last!

Also great news about The Unit.

So disappointed about Jericho, even though I didn't personally watch it. Know many people did and loved it!

I think what killed Jericho was that potential genre viewers like me found it boring and derivative when it started and never came back.

I am so bummed about The Class. I am one of the few people who loved it from the very beginning. It only got better from there and started to gain a following close to the end. I loved the characters and am quite sad that I'll never know what happened to them. Maybe a smaller network can pick it up.

yeah like the cw! i mean those are great numbers for a network like the CW and it seems like a reasonable budget and the CW doesnt have a great comedy lineup anyways! Plus, the CW is a developing network and there was some buss that the O.C would be picked up by them maybe the Class will be a possibility as well!
