« Is It Just Me?
The Reason I Dissed Grey's
No, it has nothing to do with Isaiah Washington who has so royally screwed himself that I can't even talk about it.
This has to do with The Game.
What?
Here's the deal: I love word games. One game in particular. I'm not going to name it here because, well, since I bought this computer, I've been playing said game with other people almost non-stop in a free foreign web site.
The first night I logged in, I won several times in a row. Then I lost a few times. Then I won again. My player rating rose and dropped. It was so exciting.
The problem?
Now I. Can't. Stop.
I've lost sleep, skipped the gym and missed Grey's all for this game. And I love Grey's anatomy! Last week's episode about the check was so satisfyingly good I started a girl-you-are-the-bomb-diggety letter to Shonda Rhimes. Yet this week, I missed the show, playing The Game. I figured I'd play for an hour —until I won or until Grey's started. Next thing you know it was midnight. And I still hadn't dropped a bingo to save my ass. (People who get that bingo reference know The Game I'm talking about.)
Earlier this week I didn't answer a call from a real, live single male who might be interested in me because I just knew i was about to win. Three hours later....I still hadn't won and it was too late to call him back which meant that I'd blown my chance for the all-important Friday night date. Scary thing is, I didn't mind because I knew i could go home and play this evil, evil game. Last night I played a lady in Australia well into the wee hours. She kept challenging my real-but-not-recognized- by-the-stupid-tournament-rules words and whenever I challenged her I was wrong and I lost a turn which increased her lead. It's Saturday now. I've been up since 7:30 a.m. playing. And I am NOT a morning person.
Help! I'm an addict chasing the next win. Only it's not coming. My rating has dropped from 554 to 421 as I've lost ten games in a row. Ten games! How can that be?! I am damn good at this game. But these people are better or luckier or something.
I know this isn't TV-related. Sorry. But I had to do something to stop. And, if I'm writing about The Game then I'm not playing it. Although it is still up in the background and I can see players "seeking" partners. And that call, a slight beep, a song of chance if you will is so enticing....

Why so down on yourself, Rochell? Look at the bright side: there are worse games you could be playing. At least this way, you're increasing your vocabulary. And yeah, Dictionary.com can be very lame as far as being a verifiable source. So instead of challenging your opponent, look up the word yourself on that website. If it's not there, at least you haven't lost a turn in the process. I know how you feel because I'm the same way with Another Game, even though it rarely happens that I'm ever Five Up.

Every week, my new TV Guidemeans another installment of you crackin me up! You're awesome! I just watched Word Wars (thanks you Netflix!), a documentary about top US Scrabble Tournament competitors. Holy cr%p! These people are hard core! Maybe you should watch it as a cautionary tale! Hey, nothin wrong with a little healthy competition - but next time, maybe you should answer the call from the guy!!! And I can sympathize about missing Greys's - my fave. I fell asleep Thursday night and missed BOTH Betty & Grey's this week - blasphemy! But thank the Lord and TimeWarner Cable for DVR!

Totally missed the whole George's Dad dying scene. According to the people at work is was very sad, sorry I missed it but I did win at cards.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step on the road to recovery.

Hi Qnbus,
Not only have I seen Word Wars, I put on my Scrabble tile necklace and went down to Washington Square Park in NYC to play with some of the pros who're featured in that documentary. And, let me tell you, the Scrabble they play is not the Scrabble most people know and love. Their boards looked like gobblegygook. Might as well have been Urdu I recognized so few words. Plus they played so fast and furious I couldn't keep up. The upside? I was so the hot chick in that crowd. Three men offered to play with me as a team to "show me the ropes." They gave me word lists and told me to learn my "twos," "vowel dumps" and "Qs" for starters. It was fun, humbling experience. (I got beat by a guy who was playing two games at once! Show-off.) I might go back sometime—after I memorize the vowel dumps, of course.

Is it just me or are you a cope out? With so much happening on Grey's Anatomy on screen and off, how could you not be interested? Maybe if you're busy doing something else, you don't have to comment on how people are trying to drive this man out of his job!

Have none of you young folk heard of a DVR recorder? How about an old fashioned VHS recorder? Once you ff thru all of the commercials, there is 40/45 mins of program to watch.

There is a good word game on goldtoken.com called Grabble. If you get bored & want to play, I'm Squixel there, too.

For the uninitiated, the game in question is Scrabble. "Scoring a bingo" means using all your tiles in one turn, for which you get bonus points.

OK Bonehead. First off, I hope your boss fires your a** for not doing your job. Second, are you so dense that you haven't figured out that online scrabble players cheat? They have programs that give them words for the tiles they have and they can max out their score. Get back to real life sister, you're missing out!!!

I just read your "is it just me" in TVGuide, I think you have been lighting up (RE your addison comment)
Addison has slept with two men, both she knows fairly well
Meredith slept with Mcdreamy and permanent hard on guy when she BARELY knew them. AND george
The only thing you can accuse addison of is having better taste and trying to get to know a guy before she sacks him.

I think the important question is:
Are you still the Master of Your Domain?
