Ryan Seacrest to Replace Larry King on CNN?

Whispers inside CNN say American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has the inside track to replace Larry King on the network's nightly talkfest.

MSNBC reports that Seacrest, who has subbed for King on numerous occasions, is in "serious negotiations" and could replace Capt. Suspenders by year's end.

King, who has hosted Larry King Live since 1985, told the New York Times last year that when he decides to step down, Seacrest would be the perfect replacement. "He's the classic generalist," King said. "The only thing I don't know... is how versed he is in politics."

Seacrest's reps had no comment on the story, while CNN said there is no truth to the report. — J.R. Whalen

I guess CNN wants to get into business selling teeth whitening commercials using RS to be the spokeperson!!

Or CNN wants to vote off interviewees like American Idioit!!

What a stupid move!!

I don't watch Larry King Live now and I am definitively not going to watch Ryan Seacrest Live.

Oh my God no...

Hire Katie Couric!

Ryan just like when Star Jones has sat in the chair is just an insult.
What is Larry thinking by choosing him?

While I agree that LK needs to hang up the mike and SOON, I've gotta say: No, no, no, no, NO to Seacrest. He's got too many jobs as it is and he's cloying and annoying at all of them. I agree with the above poster - Katie Couric, though not very likeable on CBS, would be a very good fit for this job.

Ryan Seacrest had a talk show that was cancelled pretty quickly. Hmm... Why would they choose him?

I am not sure how I feel about this potential development. RS is a good interviewer when it comes to entertainment stuff, but like Larry King said I don't know how well he is on politics & government (US, world-wide, and historically) ?<img border=">. If he becomes the new Larry King the mood of the show and the reputation it has established over the years may go down slightly :(

Nooooooooo!!!!

CNN would lose so much credibility. Katie Couric would be great. Anyone but Seacrest. He's on Fox for a reason.

Definitely Couric over Seacrest

Larry King should have given up years ago. He is the absolute worse interviewer. He interrupts, asks questions that have been answered, and avoids the hard hits. Anyone, including RS, would be a step up for CNN.

There are people who actually think the cardboard-cutout that is Katie Couric would be a GOOD replacement in a show where INTERVIEWING is the only method of communicating?

That bright-eyed, pretty face is nice for morning television, but the woman cannot interview her way out of a wet paper bag! Did you SEE her interview Elizabeth Smart? Even high school journalism students know you don't ask 15-year-old kidnap victims CLOSED ended questions!

I am sure she is a very nice person and she certainly is pretty.

I don't know if Ryan Seacrest can do a good job, but I know that Katie Couric definitely couldn't. Still, if CNN hires her, they deserve everything they get.
