Kristy Lee Cook's Up Record Deal

Move over Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler, there's a new hot blonde American Idol castoff in town! That's right, Kristy Lee Cook has inked a record deal with 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville to create a country album that will drop later this fall.

Cook, who finished seventh (and was lucky she made it that far considering Simon's constant disses), says, "I've wanted this for so many years. To have the chance to be a country singer — to make the music I love," and promises she'll do her best "to make [fans] proud."

The leggy beauty, who was smart as a Fox to play up her country-loving side to the Idol audience by singing, among other songs, "Proud to Be an American," will release her first single, "15 Minutes of Shame," on August 11.

So, will you be anxiously awaiting Kristy Lee's first single? Do you think the country music scene will suit her talents? — Erin Fox

She was one of my least favorites, but I'll give her a listen. AI has a surprisingly successful track record with country artists.

:)This is exactly what I expected and its likely she'll have a longer Career than David Cook the winner.By going country. But if she doesn't come out with a Great Album right away she doesn't have Kellie Pickler Naive Charm nor Carrie Underwood's great pipes to keep her at the top. Then she has Taylor Swift The MySpace Darling to edge around Then Jewel and Julianne Hough and Jessica Simpson Country Album. To make a mark in Country today sh's got it tough. So Good luck to Kristy and she has one of the best labels in Nashville with Arista.

I just KNEW that she would get a record deal. She and Brooke White were my favorite singers in the past season of American Idol, and I have purchased their pre-Idol albums, 'Devoted' and 'Songs From the Attic', respectively. Specifically about Kristy Lee: her Devoted album has some of the best original material I've heard in years. Her voice, attitude and talent made her worthy of joining the label of Carrie Underwood.
