The American Idol Finals: Who Should Win?

The following containers spoiler information relating to American Idol's Wednesday-night results show.

We perhaps always knew it would come to this. The weekly TVGuide.com reader polls wavered, but the takeaway rarely changed: This season has been about the dueling Davids, Archuleta and his flawless pipes and wholesome appeal, Cook with his moody, gritty charisma. Now, here they are, mano a mano. No third or fourth party to steal away the crumbs of votes.

But hey, before I get to The Question, let's break to give mad props to Syesha. As Lou Grant would say, the gal has got spunk. And as my wife has said, she veritably emerged from nowhere six weeks ago to start laying claim to her deserved piece of the pie. The wallflower who arrived in Hollywood bloomed.

The finals arrive next week. Though a handful of songs could swing the pendulum either way, it's time to make the call: Who's your Idol now? Vote, people.

PS. Got questions for Syesha? Share them in comments, and maybe I'll run a few by Ms. Mercado when she stops by for her video Q&A. (No dreads this time, I promise!)

I'm so glad Cookie is in the finals!:-x I was a little worried when they brought his brother on stage and I was able to get thru for him alot when I was voting last night. I didn't care who else went to the finals although I would have liked to see Syesha because I don't think Archie is as good as everyone thinks. Yes, he has a good voice but is too inexperienced and he is a dork! Syesha has really grown and I really like her voice. But all my votes go for David C!

I've been rooting for David Cook since Day numero Uno. So, he's definitely my pick to win AI this season. GO DAVID COOK!!!

Syesha had an extrmelely classy exit from the AI stage. Very proud of her. Can you ask her how she maintained her drive, even after being in the bottom 2/3 every week? Just wondered if it ever got to her behind the scenes. I'm actually looking forward to her post Idol career...now on to the finals, hopefully, David C will win!

I am so glad that David A. is in the finale. I knew that he would be here since the first time i saw him, and heard him. He is so adorable and cute, and his singing completes him. :-D

If David Cook doesn't win this I'll be super disappointed in the people out there. I mean, obviously he's the better contestant, he's extremely well rounded and can sing almost anything you throw at him....and has so much more experience. No offense to David A, but he's still a child, he needs to be in SCHOOL. Not to mention the last thing we really need is another boy band type voice. I honestly believe Mr. Cook will win, for sure, if he doesn't I'll disown American Idol, I don't want to watch a show where people vote based on popularity, and not their skills. =)

Is this the first season you've watched AI?
Look at past winners Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Taylor Hicks you call that talant. Where are any of these people now? This show is a joke when it comes to the voting. It is fixed from the start.

I so want David Cook to win, but I don't want him to be bound by the Idol contract. They never do any of the contestants justice.

David Archuleta would be more suited to the contract, but he shouldn't win. Every song he sings sounds exactly the same, and I don't understand why the judges never call him on that. They certainly had no trouble recognizing that in Amanda Overmeyer.

Question for Syesha - Did she ever consider Broadway prior to AI and is she now seriously considering it after the judges continued to press that idea?

CONGRATS Syesha. You've got talent. Finally moved up to the plate and showed it though the viewers knew that all along from the tryout days. Now that you've "classily" exited AI, what are your plans for the future? Are you going to wait for offers to come up, or do you have something in mind you really want to pursue? I wish you much luck. You WILL make it biG!!

I'm looking forward to the dueling Davids. Have gone back and forth between the two with David A being my top most times (what a PURE voice for such a YOUNG kid) and David C winning me oh others - like with the Roberta Flack song!!

I'm going to do, what I hope OTHER AI VIEWERS WILL - I'm going to wait until Tuesday and THEN decide which one I want to vote for - but either one - in fact all three - are sure to be winners in the long run because they are GREAT! (and I hope stagefright doesn't suddenly come up and sink one of the David's to make them NOT sing their best, but if that happens, that's another test, so let the games begin!!).

This season none of the contestants had the "it" factor. Of the three, I wanted David A. to be eliminated; it's not his time to jump from high school to the spotlight - his dad would destroy him! Now that it's the dueling Davids, it's David C . for me. He can withstand the stress, and has the maturity to deal with fame.

As for Fantasia's "performance", now I remember why I turned down the volume when she was a contestant and how disappointed I was when she won. She was AWFUL last night; Simon's face said it all. I agree with you, for once, Simon. She was an embarrassment.
