Get Ready to Rock: David Cook Signs Record Deal

Less than a week after being crowned the Season 7 American Idol winner, David Cook's got a record deal. Cook has, not surprisingly, signed with the Idol production house's adjunct, 19 Recordings/RCA label, says E! Online.

Taking advantage of his momentum, Cook will start to lay down tracks in between the Idol summer tour dates, to prep for a fall release. It may sound impossible to some (some = me), but this is well-trodden territory for his new label home, whose shared RCA roster includes other former Idol contestants.

In a statement, Cook said, "Signing this deal is truly a dream come true" — which may also be said for his fans. Will you be waiting to purchase his work, which he promised will "make the hair on the back of your neck stand up"? — Anna Dimond

I'll get it the day it comes out! And I'm actually going to go to the store and buy the physical CD...something I haven't done in a long time since I can download individual songs from iTunes or Rhapsody. I just hope the booklet has plenty of pictures of David :-x

Can't wait for this to come out. I've already bought 10 of his songs from iTunes so looking forward to getting a whole CD.

Yes!! I'll either buy from Amazon.com or from the store, but I will have it the first day it comes out. I love his pre-idol music, so I can't wait to see what he can do when production costs aren't an issue!!!

I am so thrilled that David Cook won this competition. I picked him out of the crowd at the top 24 selection. I can hardly wait until his new CD comes out. I'll be buying three copies. One for work, one for home and another for a gift. The studio versions of all his American Idol performances are just so awesome that I am sure this new collection of songs will be just as terrific if not better!!

I've never bought an album of any American Idol contestant. I wasn't crazy for David Cook during the season but thought he deserved to win. I like his energy and spirit and I like the way the guy rolls.
