David Archuleta, like most kids his own age, has his own MySpace page, where he writes messages to his fans. Shockingly, he writes exactly how he speaks (with the exception of a few "lol" in there). The theme of this message was Father's Day, and he expressed his gratitude toward his fans for leaving kind messages to his dad. The breathy tween sensation said, "He's been great so I'm glad you guys took time to send him your messages."
And, in case there was any doubt, fame hasn't changed your second place Idol crooner. For Father's Day, he took his dear old dad to Soup Plantation (all you can eat salad chain restaurant) for lunch, and even had time to go to church. Aww.
Archuleta also let his fans know that he's still busy with rehearsals for the Idol tour as well as taking more meetings regarding his solo career.
Do you think this MySpace message was meant to convince the public that Archie's dad is really a good guy? Or do you think we should all just leave them alone? — Erin Fox
I'm sure the kid was genuine in his message. He doesn't seem manipulative enough to have put it up to change people's image of his dad (now I wouldn't put it past his dad to suggest something like that...)
Overall I really feel sorry for the kid. It sounds as if his father is just as controlling and as manipulative of David as he was when Idol was on. I'm willing to bet that 5 years from now David will not be posting happy little notes about Dad on his MySpace page.
NO, David's My space message was not ment to convince the public that his father is a real good guy. It was a Thank you to the fans who wrote in to wish Jeff Archuleta Happy Fathers Day and their sympathys on how his father was treated. That is all it is. So yes you need to back off and leave them alone. Do any of you even know what its like to have a loving father. Well some of us do. Funny what is considered journalism now a days. Quote TMZ and National Enquirer and dont bother to do any real investigative work.
David clearly left that message of his own accord. And I am not sure if I read on far enough if there is a blog about fathers day that is separate, but both cases, we should leave the Dad alone, as stated many times He is only watching out for his sons interest. We need to watch out for ourselves
I think its a little ridiculous how this has been going on, even after the show i still see people online writing blogs about david's dad being a terrible father.
in my personal opinion, his dad seems really nice, all you have to do is look at him while david preformed on idol, to see that hes a really supportive father and hes so proud of his son.
its just that every idol year, someone has to get picked on. and this year it was david. i hope people leave him and his father alone, can anyone who says that david's dad is a bad guy, actually imagine if someone was saying that kind of stuff about your parenting skills.
i hope the best for david and his family, and i really just want people to shut up about the stage father thing.
i know what its like to be talked about, in a negative way, and its not fun.
I am glad you did this blog for your fans just to keep them updated on what's going on with your life after American Idol and fully appreciated their support. Well, just to let you know we wish you the best with your music career, just remain humble and true to yourself for your fans will always there for you to support you through thick or thin. My advice don't read or watch any tabloid magazine or media - have someone screen it for you only read positive ones. Once you are a celebrity they write a lot of things that are not true - be strong and you know showbiz is a mean place to be and always pray for guidance and thank GOD for your blessing - for this is your calling and always listen to your Dad, for he has your best interest at heart. See you in Seattle in your concert. Bye, your friend, Sam
My advice to the media just leave the Father and Son alone for they have a great realationship and stop speculating things that are not true. I know by heart that his Dad is a wonderful father and he has the best interest of his son music career. I would suggest to write a positive message about what a good relationship they have - so other people will be inspired about it. Thanks, Sam
Ok..I think you should give him a break. I am sure he is just a proud dad who support his son. If you have a father..just put in David's shoes and comment..but just after. Is not your dad, is not my dad. So...David is the result of his parents. And he is one of the most humble, sincere and natural kid.
Why does there have to be an ulteria motive for a teenager to have a myspace? It's not about his dad, it's about him and his fans/admirers. It is a way for us to keep abreast of David and what's going in his life. As an elementary school teacher, my students often (daily) argue and even fight if someone says something negative about their family. Imagaine how David must feel to have his father publically bashed and humiliated for a few measely dollars? Don't beat a dead horse.
Erin: You have interviewed David. I have watched the first two parts of your three-part interview. Do you honestly think that he is some poor brow-beaten kid? How can someone be so upbeat and fun while at the same time humble and kind if they are constantly trying to suppress supposed anger and abuse issues coming from a parent? David spontaneously answered all your questions, as he has on every interview I have seen him give. He is not carefully measuring what he says in order to make his dad look good or to give false impressions about anything else for that matter. His real fans, who have done their research and have taken the time to get to know him, have come to the conclusion that at the very worst the accusations against his father are overblown and exaggerated, and more probably are nearly completely if not entirely false. What sources are a thoughtful, fair minded person to believe: Family and friends of David who know him and his parents well, or sleazy sources such as TMZ and the National Enquirer that will take any story, true or false, and run with it? If there was a leak coming from backstage at American Idol itself, you must realize that it was the intention of the producers to crown David Cook as the American Idol. Sure they wanted Archie in the finale for ratings purposes, but they wanted to right the wrong of Daughtry's exit from Idol a couple of seasons ago and regain the credibility the show supposedly lost. Bad press for Archie = more votes for David Cook. Those of us who closely followed the political maneuverings at Idol could fill an encyclopedia with details on how this all unfolded. Anyway, my point is to ask you this: Do you want to be considered a serious journalist, or are you satisfied with falling into the trap of being just another sloppy hack, too lazy to do the required research in order to bring some balance to a story? TRUTH does matter.
Why would you even ask that question? This was a genuine message left by David because he respects and loves his dad. David strives to be nothing but "himself" and you should know that having interviewed him. But yet again here's another writer who just wants reaction no matter how hurtful to some people. Good going, Erin. Shame on you!
Bottom line, to all the haters in the world, leave Archie and his Dad Jeff alone and that includes you Erin. We are the peaceful and joyful camp, so get out our tent. :-Z
I love getting the updates from David! It's so hard not getting to see him twice a week, so it's wonderful to know what he's up to.
He's an unbelievable talent, a fantastic human being, and way cute! He's just adorable. I'm addicted.
I think media people should leave them alone. Any objective person who has investigated knows there is no truth to the rumors about David's dad. If he was as he's portrayed, David would be a head case. Instead, he's about the happiest, most well-adjusted young man on the planet. Very inspiring.
Naomi Judd's never even met them. She saw David on stage several times for about five seconds over five years ago. No one else has stepped forward to make any claims. Idol's spokesman said that the producers had no problems with Jeff.
Give me a break! It's ludicrous! Surely there are legitimate, interesting, genuine stories out there to write about. Thanks for offering to let this canard die out!
