What a night! Besides the cheesetastic boxing intro Fox dreamed up (yes, because David Archuleta looked really tough with his fists up), the two finalists gave it their all — and then some! The consensus amongst the judges (besides Paula and her rose-colored glasses) was that David A. nailed it last night. They were obsessed with his performance of Elton's "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me." Now it's up to America to make the call! — Gina DiNunno
Guess who won last night? No one. The judges were ridiculous, Archuleta was obvious (though in great voice), Cook was dissed continuously (and as interesting as usual, though he seemed rather nervous), the boxing metaphor was pathetic, and the audience was bored by bad songs (get rid of the stupid songwriting contest) and hype (should be 100 times worse tonight). Both Cook and Archuleta will do fine, regardless of who wins, and I hope Idol changes up the format last year, b/c it's truly jumped the shark.
David Cook is king and deserves the Idol crown. He is more well rounded in EVERY SINGLE WAY and he voice truly rocks me to my soul! Whatever one may think of last night's finale... over the entire season he has proved himself repeatedly as the man to beat. Even in the interviews (did you check out KISS FM this morning) he has something to say and doesn't just stand there with a goofy grin and a golly...! And what was with those judges last night - total bias towards Archie. I like Simon and find him usually right on point, but last night, given the chance, we would have had words! HA! At least he has some nice words to say about Cookie as a person... I hope David Cook shocks them all and runs away with the title. No matter what happens, in the end, he'll be the biggest star of them all!! FDL~out
I actually like both David's and will be happy with either of them winning. Although, I think Cook will be better off not winning, so that he can have creative control of his first CD.
I too thought the boxing theme was the cheesiest thing I have ever seen Idol do. I mean they really outdid themselves on the cheese meter...far surpassing the Ford videos and group numbers!
No matter what happens tonight... all I know is that I can't wait to get my hands on a David Cook CD!
I was totally bored last night. The songs they picked were horrible, and I thought the comments by the judges were awful. David A. did not show one bit of creativity or variation in his performance. He merely sang the same song, same closed eyes, many oh's, and I really don't want to hear him ever again. Maybe in High School Musical. David Cook is a true performer, and worthy of being an American Idol. The phone lines last night were highly inadequate, and I got far more busy signals than actual votes counted. That really needs to be looked at as well.
David Archuleta was FANTASTIC last night.I Like both David's but I think Archuleta deserves the title. He should release Dont' Let The Sun Go Down On Me .David Cook made the mistake of not singing Hello for his last performance. LMK116
David a won the finals for sure, DC won the season, but in my heart and that of many people around the world, David A has been the best singer in the entire series of AI...no doubt! and his rendition of "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" was not only flawless, but heartfelt and brilliant, agree with Randy! "Imagine" was beautifully vocalized and slightly dif from his original, filled with emotion! 'In This Moment" was vocally perfect and emotional as well, Hey people, Clive Davis does not give Standing O's to just anybody, and he did for David A, with a smile from ear to ear, he did not for DC and there is a reson...you can't compare their genres, and I do like DC, but DA is technically and emotionally better, he really becomes the songs he signs and transports that feeling to the audience, and the world. DA is the World Idol!! Amen!
