Top 5 Power Rankings: Will Anyone Challenge the Davids?

With Carly removed from the running, Brooke inarguably on borrowed time (and/or the benefactor/involuntary puppet of a, ahem, questionable website), and Syesha yet again mired in last place, it's pretty safe to say that your next American Idol is going to be... a guy. According to the latest TVGuide.com Power Rankings, David C. now has 56.2 percent of our readers' votes, again topping the tally. Meanwhile, at a time when wannabes want their piece of the pie to be increasing, David A. took his biggest hit in over a month, dropping 3.5 percent week-to-week. As for Jason... well, he apparently has pretty eyes.
Top 5 Power Rankings
55.8% David Cook
20.9% David Archuleta
12.7% Jason Castro
6.7% Brooke White
3.8% Syesha Mercado
This week we switch to double performances. Realistically, folks, do you think any surprises are left to be seen in the standings? I suppose only the next 72 hours will tell.

Alright everyone, it's time to stop voting for Jason because he has "cute eyes." From here on out let's make a real effort to judge on talent and performance. Other more talented singers have already left due to poor voting. It's time for Jason to go.

Poor Syesha. I'm not even a fan, but after last week she still can't muster more support than Brooke? Clearly, the David factor is too much to overcome for anyone. I think they'd both have to kick a puppy on camera in order to put a dent in their voting blocs...
That said, Syesha may still outlast on of the other two much like she did Carly. One thing's for sure - the votes aren't based on talent.

YAY for David Cook! It's awesome to see his popularity keep rising. I just hope that's reflected in the actual votes for the show, because he totally deserves to win. He's the only one who comes out week after week, continuing to surprise and impress. Cook seems to be so far and away the best one this season that it seems only right that he take the crown. Plus I think it would be good for AI if the best one actually won for the first time since Carrie Underwood.

I would love to see David Cook win, he is the most deserving. I just wonder though if America would be doing him a favor by not letting him win. Think of Daughtry and how big he has become! Either way David will become big also!
Jason and Brooke have got to go, I'm tired of listening to the same ole thing week after week with them.

As it has been said in the past, this is TV Guides poll, not American Idols. Therefore, the numbers with the Davids are probably closer on the AI side.
I happen to like both Davids and they are both going to get recording contracts. With that being said, the winner SHOULD BE THE ONE WITH THE MOST VOTES! I do think that David Cook is the more well rounded of the Davids and he'd adjust better than David Archuleta if he were to win.

MSN has an interesting article today about how only 4 songs performed this season have been released in the last 10 years, thanks to the themes that the producers have picked. This is quite odd, given how often the judges emphasize that the contestants need to be relevant NOW.
Neil Diamond week is not going to improve things.

I am so sick of Idol. That show doesn't know what real talent is. Why would they allow the viewers to vote on a person good looks when they can't sing to save there bums! Jason has to go, Brooke has to go. Actually, they all have to go except for David Cook. I hope next year they start coming down harder about the voting and stop letting these young teens do all the choosing. Lets get some real talent in there like the Jennifer Hudson.

I had been impressed with America's decision on who got voted off until Carly. This is obviously no longer about actually talent. It should have been Syesha and Brooke first (either way) and Jason. Carly, David C. and David A. should have been the top 3. I don't understand the Jason attraction AT ALL. He isn't nearly as good as the others and he continually ignores the advice he is given from the judges and guest mentors. I hope America starts listening, not just watching. My money is on a David to win. Whether or not David A. wins or David C., they will both get record deals.

I don't vote for Jason because he has "pretty eyes". I vote for him because I like his sound. I'm really tired of the unimaginative, lemming like bashing.

Personally I'm a huge fan of Jason Castro. He and David A. are the only two that I would listen to if they had their own record deal, and THAT'S why I vote for him week after week. I can recognize that Cook is good, but I would prefer to listen to Castro's voice. So, it isn't always based on looks guys, it's based on style of music.

Are you kidding? You are tired of hearing the same thing every week so Jason has to go???? Have you been listening to ALL of the other contestants? David A sounds like he's singing a Disney soundtrack EVERY week...yet nobody gripes about that. David C sounds like he wants to be Daughtry EVERY week...nobody says a word. GO JASON, he's the best!!!
