The Top 11: Who's Your Idol Now?
Brooke White on American Idol by Frank Micelotta/Fox
The following contains a spoiler about Wednesday night's results show.
This week on Idol, the game changed. What was (sadly) shaping up to be a predictable Season 7 turned in new and exciting directions, as Chikezie reversed his downward spiral, middle-of-the-packers like Jason and David Cook showed us something new, and David A... well, he proved himself to be a mere mortal.
The ladies didn't get shaken up as much, though Syesha is in dire need of her own turnaround tune, while Amanda and Brooke could still benefit from breaking out of their respective boxes.
At the end of the day (meaning, Wednesday night), Idol's top 12 was stripped of David Hernandez, who on Tuesday proved to be just OK — which we kind of always knew.
Now that we're down to 11, who is your current pick to win? Vote here, and on Monday we'll see how the Power Rankings got shaken up!

How quickly the tables turn! David Cook (my favorite and apparently many another viewer's fave as well) has a resounding lead this week. This just goes to show that this contest is really going to be won on a week-by-week basis. You have to be fabulous EVERY week, or people will find someone else to root for. In David Cook's case, he's been the only performer to give consistently great performances every week since the beginning of the season. Not only does he know who he is as a performer, he knows how to pick songs that America will love hearing him sing/perform. I think as the season progresses, these tallies will become closer and closer, as the contestants who have what it takes to go the distance distinguish themselves from the rest of the pack.

David H. should not have went. He wasn't the best of the night, but he didn't completely stink either. It should have been Kristie and then Syesha. David H. was even better than David A. that night! Of course, David A. would get another shot b/c at this point no one cares if he messes up the lyrics and doesn't sound good. David H. had a lot more potential than Syesha or Kristie. I hate to see him go b/c he was so much better than that song the other night, but he was still way better than the others in the bottom.

David Hernandez never would have won, but he should have gotten a few more weeks. Kristie definitely should have gone before him, and Ramiele as well since she doesn't seem to understand how to not be BORING. At least David H. entertained me this week, even if it was cheesy. Ramiele just made me zone out for two minutes.

I decided after the first week that David A was the chosen one and I liked him a lot as well but I wanted to pick someone else to be my favorite. David Cook just stood out to me as someone with a great voice and a interesting personality so he was who became my favorite. And I loved the fact he is smart as well-word puzzles and all. Anyhow, I am so happy to see him doing so well. And I think Kristy should have gone before David H-he was fun to watch and had a strong voice.

Well, it is still early, but it looks like we have a very clear top 5 on our hands according to the poll: David Cook, David Archuleta, Brooke White, Jason Castro, and Carly Smithson.
I agree wholeheartedly with this list (though I do hope Michael starts stepping it up soon. I love me some Australian) and although Monday is still a long way away I think the lead these 5 have will probably only get stronger after a weekend of voting.

David Cook, whose also my favorite, is definitely my choice to win. He has taken older songs and made them hits for the new year. Not one previous idol has done that before (at least from what i remember) and he should win it for that. So my favorite is David Cook.

David H was a shoe in to go. A strange performance (it wasn't BAD but it just sounded wrong TOO ME) and strippergate were a bad combination at a bad time. Remember people aren't voted off. They just don't get votes. And with Chikezie's awesome resurgence (he thought he was gone last week - he's letting lose with nothing to lose?) Adam having 2 terrific performances in a row their gonna take some votes away. Now if people could just start stealing Jason's votes (grin). He's a weak performer, runs out of breath at the end of every line. And still gives me Travolta flash backs to "Let Her In". SOMEONE PLESE TELL AMANDA ABOUT "HELTER SKELTER". Was glad to hear David A singing better last night.

I like David Cook's talents a lot but I wish we'd see more of the personality that blossomed after Simon "the weird" Cowell praised him this week. David jumped up and down and grinned from ear to ear and that is what makes the talent go so much farther, in my opinion. (Amanda, are you taking notes, too?)
Now about Simon and Ryan....get over yourselves! It's fun and sometimes interesting to hear their exchanges, like comments about Simon's boring "outfits" , or Ryan's crazy hair night (what WAS that do...I mean don't?), but their "secret" exchanges leave us wondering and feeling more than a tad bit uncomfortable (dare I say annoyed?) and they are not at all enjoyable to watch when they're going at one another. They seem like two grade school kids cutting each other down and it's getting silly. I want to see adults discussing talent with the occasional crack but not constant jabs taking away from the Idol contestant's time! Shame on you both.

David Cook is the one who gives me goose bumps every time he performs. David Archuletta may have the best "technical" voice, but as we all know, having a perfect voice is not always what makes an "idol". David Cook has the rocker sound and the cool good looks and attitude to be a star.

I just don't get Brooke or Jason. They both need to go. Too boring!! Carly is the best female singer (my pick to win). The guys are tougher between David C, Chikezie, and David A.

i like david cooke, and chikezie was amazing, but, though i like his singing, michael doesn't have to do anything but stand there, right girls?

I thought Kristy or Sayesha should have gone before David H., but I can live with last night's decision. And, hey! Can Chikeze bring it??! Terrific, and I don't think we've seen all he can do yet. However, I still think David A. will win.

I, too, am tired of the exchanges between Ryan and Simon. They should tone it down quite a bit. I always enjoy the back-and-forth between Simon and Paula, however. I love Amanda, a fellow "Hoosier," but wish she would dial back the biker chick image. Can she do a ballad? Don't know; but she sure can rock.
