The Top 10: Who's Your Idol Now?
The following contains an elimination spoiler from Wednesday night's American Idol.
Talk about choosing the lesser of too much Beatles. Following one of the more groan-inducing Idol performance nights, "America voted!" (as they say) and told not Kristy Lee but Amanda to just let it be. That leaves us now with five girls and five guys, and hopefully no more bright ideas to milk an obviously pricey songbook for two weeks straight.
Who's your current favorite to emerge at season's end as your American Idol? Did David A. cinch his way back to the top spot? Did Syesha merely buy herself another week? Is there any long-shot chance that the Power Rankings' new No. 1 will be a fresh face? The time to vote is... now.

What a relief.
Amanda - don't let the door hit you on the way out. I'm glad you made it in the top 24, but your welcome was overstayed. I don't think she was even singing during the medley, aside from her tiny solo!
Carly shouldn't have been in the bottom 3. My vote for next to go: Ramiele or Kristy Lee.

I was shocked to see Carly in the bottom 3. I like her and she was actually in my top 2 last night, along with David C. I was relieved to see Amanda go finally, but I think KLC needs to go too and why is she still there? Yes, she's pretty but she can't sing as well. I think she needs to go next and then it really doesn't matter on the order -- either Ramiele, Syesha, Chikezie or Jason C. (I know some people love him, but I'm not a huge fan). Then that leaves David C., Carly, Michael J. (who I would love to see finally show why he needs to be there especially compared to Hollywood week), Brooke W., and David A.
I'm not a huge fan of David A. like most people are. He does not impress me. Sure he can sing, but he gets tiring already. I know I wouldn't buy any CD he puts out and the aw shucks thing and the constant licking of his lips while singing just annoy me. I think he's good, but I don't think he's as wonderful as everyone gives him credit for. He's predictable to me.
I would like David C. to win and here's hoping he stays strong. I have also liked Carly and Michael J. since their auditions and I just think Brooke is a so sweet.

I just about went appaplectic when they announcd Carly in the bottom 3. Having made it this far you can't really say that any of these singers suck, but there are definitely one or two others in the pack who should have been where Carly was last night instead of her.
While I didn't like Amanda's voice, I enjoyed watching her transformation to a more polished look and attitude, but still keeping her edge. I think the whole experience will definetly make her more marketable in more ways than just the notoriety.
I also read the comments and hear others discuss about how fake so-and-so is and how smug so-and-so is, etc. Since when is personality so important in a recording artist? Look at your cd collection and computer - of all the cd's and downloads any of us have, how many of them were purchased just b/c you liked the artists sweet, sunny disposition? How many of them do we even know so well that we really know their real persona? We listen to them, and occassionally get to see them live in concert and they are are going to put their best face forward.
AI is a contest to find the next hot recording artist. I just think the voting should be based on the same criteria with which you choose to support other recording artists. It's hypocritical to be concerned about whether someone was trying to gain sympathy with crocodile tears or accidentally on purpose left their shoes at the piano to draw attention to being barefoot when you don't know or care if you buy cds by drug addicts or dui offenders, or worse.

Carly could win the whole thing. She is one of the best.

While I don't find Amanda's dismisal a big shock or injustice, I do not think Kristy Lee Cook deserves to go out on the tour. (but then I don't get Brook or Jason (John Travolta's love child???) to my liking either. Amanda at least brought a touch of variety to the party. Carly in the bottom 3?!? As long as unlimited voting is the norm, noone with talent is safe. Have we not learned from Daughtry? I say limit the voting. 1 phone 1 vote, won't fly, but maybe 10. But then Fox couldn't collect all those text fees???

Why during "make-over" week didn't someone at AI suggest to Jason to cut that nasty nappy hair? Of course, I don't think that would help his singing.

Thank Gahd Amanda's Gone !
There is justice in AmerIdol after all ! With that two-tone hair mess and a feminine voice destroyed by smoking her dismissal was a long time coming.
Many will say the same when Krista Lee's time comes, too, but here's why I think she's had staying power to this point. She's so tall and pretty that we WANT her to realize her potential, to really let her inner-singer out, but she still disappoints week after week and it will catch up to her in the next week or two.
She's the "Al Gore" of this group, just too wooden a performer, but she's got the most performer potential of the whole group if she would unleash the beast within !

I am so glad aMANda is finally gone. She's an assault to my eyes and ears. I also think America got it right and Carly should have been in the bottom three. I don't think she's as good as she's cracked up to be, nor do I believe Kristi is as bad. I do believe this is definitely the guy's year. Brooke is hands down my favorite girl, but the top four guys are really close in my book (Jason, Michael, David C. and David A). I will be happy if any of them win. I do think Syesha and Ramielle are better than Carly.

With Carly at the bottom three, it reinforces AI's unpredictability. And as the selection shrinks, it is interesting to see where all the eliminated contestants votes go to as their new choice. I guess that's why Kristy is still around. Hoping that the next theme will be something more contemporary. Wonder if they're still thinking of doing itunes 100. Seems almost as if some of the contestants are falling into a rut, with MJ needing to breakout, Chikezie still emulating his twang from last week and David Cook with the same chords, I really enjoyed seeing yellow with Brooke. Now is the time to shine and go ballistic. Contestants can't choose songs on sentimentalities and dedications, they can do that after the win. Now is the time to fly.

I'm liking this poll a lot more right now. David A =)
And I am SO glad about what Simon said to David Cook. He always looks smug. He is smug. And, personally, that turns me off from liking him completely. And I feel like he does the same thing week in, week out. It was cool with "Hello," and even last week, but really, dude...
No way did Carly belong in the bottom three. And I'm just gonna put it out there. I'm in love with Jason Castro. I LOVED "Michelle."

I think the reason that Carly was in the bottom three is that Americans don't like being told who to pick. The judges keep insisting that we should think she's the best. I grant you her vocals are top notch, but her performances leave me cold. Ever watch her face? Open eyes wide, close eyes, open eyes and frown intently, close eyes, open, close eyes and frown, open eyes, scrunch closed eyes and open mouth real big for last huge note.
It's as distracting as David A. licking his lips between lines. What is he, a lizard?
My votes go to David Cook and Jason. Can't decide yet between the rocker (who should be smug and swaggerish) or the adorable street musician/folk singer.

Simon's right when he says (and I'm paraphrasing) "you could win this competition were the voting not based on personality but on talent." I'm in agreement with many before me: Carly does have talent; and I love her beautiful blue eyes!
David A. has a lot of talent for a 17-yr-old, but I sincerely hope he doesn't win the competition. He's too young. And I'm not speaking of his age; I'm speaking of his personality. He's very immature. Early on, the camera caught him sobbing his eyes out right after a female contestant had been voted off the show. And Ryan has to be careful when he's talking directly to David on stage, or David will tear up. With college ahead and trying to find someone to marry, I just think that David isn't going to have the time to devote himself to music that much.
My choice would be David Cook. He might appear smug, but I don't think that's really the way he feels inside. I think it might have a lot to do with discomfort of being on stage in front of an audience.

I was THRILLED when Amanda was given the boot. I've said it before, she does a mean Janis Joplin, but that's about as much kudos as I give her. (Go join a cover band...)
If I had to choose between her and Kristy Lee, as much as I don't see what talent KL has, I would have chosen her to stay over Amanda. My least 2 fav's from this point forward are KL and Ramiele. Until they get going, I'm not going to get too excited.
Still my top 5...in no particular order...The Davids, Michael, Jason and Brooke.
