TV Lovers We'll Always Love
Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson by Frank Ockenfels/The WB
Out of all the TV shows past and present, we narrowed down a list of the small-screen lovers we'll always love. Through their tough times, breakups, makeups and romantic moments, we hold the following pairs close to our hearts. Here's our list of the top 10 TV couples we'll forever adore — and how you can enjoy them, too, on DVD. — Gord Lacey
10) Mulder and Scully, The X-Files People may debate about these two, but this pair couldn't have been more in love… even if they never showed it until the end. Talk about sexual tension! Buy the DVD here.
9) David and Maddie, Moonlighting If only they had hidden their feelings like Mulder and Scully did… then the show wouldn't have tanked after they hooked up. But before that, they were the most entertaining couple on TV. Buy the DVD here.
8) Kevin Arnold and Winnie Cooper, The Wonder Years There's nothing like young love, and Kevin and Winnie took fans through the flirting, the dating and the nerve-racking phases of finding that special someone. Buy the DVD here.
7) Luke and Lorelai, Gilmore Girls Stars Hollow couldn't find a better match. They may have taken a twisted path, but the series finale left fans believing they'd found each other for good. Buy the DVD here.
6) Carrie and Big, Sex and the City Whether you were rooting for them or not, no one can forget this forever-tied couple who proved Paris really is the most romantic place on Earth. Buy the DVD here.
5) Cliff and Claire Huxtable, The Cosby Show This classic couple balanced five kids, full-time jobs and a house full of trouble! They left a mark on TV history with their strong love that held the family together. Buy the DVD here.
4) Buffy and Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer Nothing makes fans' hearts ache more than a hot couple destined to never be "together." But the one love scene they did share was steamy with a capital S. Buy the DVD here.
3) Rob and Laura Petrie, The Dick Van Dyke Show The TV couple all others are measured against, the Petries broke ground by showing a sexual connection between an on-air husband and wife. Buy the DVD here.
2) Ross and Rachel, Friends This famous on-and-off again couple always held a spark for each other over the 10 years they spent hanging out at Central Perk. Buy the DVD here.
1) Ricky and Lucy Ricardo, I Love Lucy Despite Lucy's ridiculous antics and Ricky's outbursts, the Ricardos loved each other more than anything. Buy the DVD here.

I have to admit that to me, a huge Friends fan (it would be tough to find one bigger), the couple wasn't Ross and Rachel. It was Chandler and Monica.
Sure, it didn't start out that way, not even as a maybe. They were just friends, who didn't even really start out as friends (if you know the backstory of those two, revealed in the course of ten seasons).
But like many great couples, their solid relationship grew out of that friendship into something much more. And we got to see it happen. I was *moved* when Chandler first let it slip that he was in love with her, and I was moved again when one of them popped the question to the other. More than any other two episodes in the show's run, I go back and play those two over and over again.
Maybe it helps that I identify so much with computer nerd Chandler, I don't know. But in the end we saw Chandler and Monica's life together start, and they had one of the key events which the show truly closed upon. At that end, Ross and Rachel weren't anything except a "maybe"...and I wouldn't bet too much money on them lasting beyond what we saw.
Monica and Chandler I have no doubts about, whatsoever.

How could you possibly leave out Catherine and Vincent (Beauty and the Beast)?!?
That was such a good example of "love" as opposed to what is usually portrayed these days -- physical "lust"!

I agree with Carrie and Big. Although Carrie and Aiden might be a close second

But Rachel and Ross were eachother's "Lobsters." They survived a lot of ups and downs together.
As Did Carrie & Big, which is why i'm such a huge fan. I loved Aiden too but how can you not root for true, deep love to overcome in the end?!

How could you leave out Roswell's Liz Parker and Max Evans? Or Isabel Evans and Alex Whitman? Or Maria DeLuca and Michael Guerin?
While they'd have to count as one entery, no lovers ever came as starcrossed as these ones.

Piper and Leo from Charmed! Though I loved Buffy and Angel with all my heart. They were meant to be. Also love Big and Carrie. I do agree with Leah about Ed and Carol and with Captain Average that every relationship on Roswell was perfect.
Oh, and Sam and Harrison from the criminally short lived Popular.

I remember being devastated when it was revealed in the series finale of The Wonder Years that Kevin and Winnie ended up marrying other people! I was about the same age as the characters at the time, and my little naive heart didn't understand how those two could possibly not end up together.
Looking back now, I guess I can see why this slice-of-life show would want to reflect the reality that most middle- or high-school sweathearts don't last forever. But still, in my mind, Winnie Cooper and Kevin Arnold have somehow found their way back to each other.

Great Picks. I would include Seth/Summer Ryan/Marissa Pacey/Joey and not Buffy/Angel. Spike/Buffy are the better couple.

Angel and Buffy were not my favorite couple from the show. Spike and Buffy were the adult pairing. Angel was the little girl's version of romance. He didn't stick around. Angel and Cordy were the better pairing for Angel.
Otherwise I agree with your choices.
