With the series renewed and returning to your TV screens this fall (prompting fans everywhere to proclaim "she'll be back!"), you of course will want to catch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles's 9-episode premiere season run once again before the new season starts. You can count on repeats airing during the summer, of course, but there's nothing quite like owning your very own copies on disc...complete with exclusive extras!

Josh Friedman, who created the show, has let the cat out of the bag that The Complete 1st Season will arrive on home video sometime in August, and that cast and crew have participated in bonus material which includes Commentary Tracks and "mini-documentaries". Besides himself, participants include Director David Nutter (The X-Files, Roswell, Smallville), Executive Producer James Middleton (upcoming Terminator 4 film), various writers, and show leads Lena Headey (300), Thomas Dekker (Heroes), Summer Glau (Firefly) and Brian Austin Green (Beverly Hills, 90210).

The August release of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - The Complete 1st Season will be available from Warner Home Video on both standard DVD ($29.98 list price), and on high-definition Blu-ray Disc ($39.99 list price, per early information). Popular online retailer Amazon.com doesn't have any additional info just yet (not even an exact street date), but they can lock in your pre-orders right away at a discounted cost, and "will deliver it to you when it arrives." I think since this show is only 9 episodes (and I still have the last 4 on my dvr) that I'm gonna wait to buy it when it goes on sale. Like 20 bucks or less.

I have a BUNCH of shows pre-ordered at amazon right now and I think I need to be a little more choosy as to which shows I buy when they come out and which ones I wait for them to go on sale, like say, Fastlane and Psych, which are both over 40 bucks.

I dunno, Leah. 9 episodes is about 6.5-7 hours of entertainment.

We all think nothing of paying $15-$20 for 1.5 to 2 hours of entertainment when it comes to a film. $20-$30 isn't much of a problem for many Blu-ray buyers for a similar-length movie.

For $30-ish ($40-ish on the Blu-ray) you are paying about twice as much, for 4 times the amount of entertainment. I don't see the problem! — David Lambert

Well, David, you make a lot of sense with that argument. But, I'm supposed to be buying less, not more. ;)

Isn't that price pretty cheap for the blu-ray set? I've still never seen a blu-ray video to know if it's worth it for me. I have an upconverting dvd player and it's a lot better than what I had.

I saw the official cover art for this series that you posted at TSoD.com and I have to say, I really wish it was the picture with Summer Glau (cameron). She is the reason I watched the show in the first place. After seeing Firefly and Serenity, I'll watch anything she's in. (That's pretty much the case for the whole cast, and the cast of any of Joss Whedon's other shows too.)

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, that DVD and Blu-ray box art can be seen here, and also at the Amazon pre-order links given above.

I admit I was surprised that Summer Glau as "Cameron" wasn't on the cover somehow, given that this IS a "Terminator" title, after all. Of course, by that logic then the evil Terminator "Cromartie" could also be shown on the cover art.

On the other hand, the show is also - and mainly! - "The Sarah Connor Chronicles". So showing Lena Headey as "Sarah" on the cover isn't exactly a stretch! :-D

I recognize Summer from Firefly, as do you and many other dedicated Browncoats. Heck, in that same vein, last night I was watching Boston Legal and my wife came home from work, saw Gina Torres on the screen (she was guesting in a minor role as an Asst. D.A.), and my wife immediately said "Firefly!" (to be fair, though, she also said "Cleopatra 2525!" a moment later).

Anyway, Summer's face would be recognized quite a decent bit, AND there's a sci-fi tie-in with Firefly to Terminator. I could also argue that Thomas Dekker's (admittedly small) role on Heroes qualifies him to turn around and show his face - John Connor's face - on the cover, instead of only showing his back (as he currently does).

However, let's be real: if Warner wanted to sell this title based on the face of the best-known character on the cast, then be fair: they would put aside the sci-fi tie-ins altogether and try to squeeze Brian Austin Green's face on the cover somehow, and blatantly appeal to all us 90210-ers who would recognize him! — David Lambert
