Daniel,
I was so very happy for Genie, I thought she looked stunning. Alittle sad that Julie Berman didn't win but Rick and Christian were deserving I think, they both always bring their "A" game on a regular basis. I really enjoyed the show this year, thougth it moved along very well!!!
What did you think about the winners??
Take care, Daniel

Daniel, I think the Emmys were somewhat boring, They should have named it The CBS Daytime Emmys. Was the Emmy Committee a little bias on their nominations. being it was on CBS. Other than Genie Francis and Rick Hearst winning. It was all CBS. Barb

As much as I enjoy Rachael Ray on her talk show and of course, her cooking shows, I was concerned that what breasts she does have were going to somehow end up out. Everytime she leaned left or right, her dress revealed more. While she hasn't a lot to show, what she does have could have proven quite embarrasing for her and for CBS.
What ever happened to modesty?

I actually have an "As the World Turns" question I am hoping Daniel or someone reading this blog can answer. My sister and I are confused about the parental lineage of Allison. We know that she is the daughter of Susan and Larry. The question we have is this: Did Emily donate an egg and then Susan carried and delivered Allison or did Susan supply the egg, Larry the sperm, and then Emily carried and delivered her? We have watched forever, but can't remember how this went. Thanks!!

Hi donfay43,
Your question is a little random for this discussion thread, but since I was watching when ATWT told the story of Allison's conception, I can't resist answering...
Emily donated the egg, which was fertilized with Larry's sperm. Susan carried the child.
It's a bit weird when you think about it, because Emily is both mother and sister to Allison.
Back in the day, I remember Lucinda making a wicked remark about the situation being "rather incestuous."

I watch "Guiding Light" and if that is the "Best Writing Team" than soap operas must be in a period of writing hell. The scenes are sometimes painful to watch because of the dialogue. It seems like at least 50% of each episode is expository. And the exposition is just like scratching nails across a chalk board.
This show is in dire straits what with them shooting on only a few constantly re-dressed sets. The characters are unrecognizable. Wasn't Susan Lemay (formerly played by Brittney Snow) more Jim's daughter than Harley's daughter in her previous incarnation and didn't they do the step mother story with Beth? Why hasn't Beth Chamberlin had a single scene with the new Susan? And why god why are they trying to hook new Susan and Gus's son up? I am really getting past all the surprise incest on this show.
Oh and Laura Wright's "Cassie" never would have taken all this crap from Josh Lewis and Reva. These writers have made Reva Lewis, Harley Cooper, and Dr. Rick Bauer three of my favorite characters, completely detestible. I hope this changes soon.

Honestly, I found this year's award show extremely boring and produced in somewhat bad taste. Daytime fans should not be allowed to attend this types of event and sit in the audience anywhere. They are too distracting. Also, the set-up of the stage appeared deplorable; however, I do like the Kodak Theater very much. And, the format throughout the night was done is such a rush fashion that I think the show needs to return to a three-hour format. Last year's show was more enjoyable to watch. I feel bad I erased it to tape this one.
As for the winners of the awards, I was quite pleased. However, I think the winner of Outstanding Supporting Actress should have been won by Leslie Kay (Felicia, B&B). Don't get me wrong here--Genie Francis is a fantastic actress, but to put her in a supporting category in the pre-nomination process and to make it to the final round before selecting a winner was just too, too wrong. Shame on you, GH. This lady is a lead actress, not supporting. Well, maybe someday, she will win for that in some arena, if not daytime.
Furthermore, How come there was no tribute to the late Darlene Conley (Sally, B&B)? I thought for sure CBS (as the network hosting the event) would honor her in some way since she acted on a few of its shows.
Also, no wonder the awards show received high ratings this year. It ran against a bunch of repeats for its competition. This award show needs to be moved up closer to the year, (like the Oscars) say no later than March. In other words, when the nominees were being announced before the opening of the envelopes declaring the winners, I saw clips that did not showcase the actor/actress best work for that year and/or I had completely forgotten that scene since it appeared the scene that aired was sooooooooo long ago (like 18 months ago when the awards season begins) So, move up the date of this award show please.

After reading the article about the Daytime Emmys, it was nice to find out Bob Barker won for Outstanding Game Show Host. On the day of his official retirement, the Daytime Emmy was the perfect retirement gift for him. Congratulations, Bob.

I was pleased with several of the winners (especially Christian LeBlanc), but I'm absolutely stunned that Guiding Light was even nominated for Best Soap, much less one of the winners. That show has been circling the drain for a couple of years now. I watched it for several years, and saw a lot of potential for greatness, but the production team eliminated one by one the strong elements of the show in favor of some truly bizarre plot choices. One can only assume that the Emmy system of concentrating on individual episodes rather than the prevailing quality of a show has shown its weakness yet again--GL is a sad shell (with a few vestigial throwbacks to its glory days) in its death throes, not an outstanding drama.
