New Vodcast: Robin Williams on SVU!

Check out the latest Cheers & Jeers vodcast, in which we butt heads over Robin Williams' SVU guest shot (and please excuse the now-incorrect info about the 200th episode — this was taped a few weeks ago)...

I think that Robin Williams was one of the few good things about last night's episode. I think his performance was great and just the right amount of creepy.

My main jeer for the episode has to be turning a great episode into yet another Elliot & Olivia Show at the half hour mark. What was great and intriguing become bland and the same old story about how strong the partnership between Stabler and Benson is. Ugh. Whatever. The show needs to start switching it up and showing them pair up with other people or show the other pairings (poor Adam Beach, this year has been a huge waste of his talent as he sat on the sideline for almost the entire season!) and shake things up a little. I'm getting so sick of Elliot and Olivia, even though I think Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay are great actors.

Also, are we really supposed to believe that Robin Williams' character, this brilliant (though sick and twisted) man who planned things out so thoroughly just ran into the river? Really? When there's a huge white tarp over jungle gym equipment to hide under? Really? I'm supposed to believe he just ran into the river and killed himself? I don't think so. Nor do I think that in real life he'd have been cuffed with his hands in the front instead of the back, nor do I think in real life he would've been allowed to stop and tie his shoes, nor do I think a cop would've cuffed a guy and not searched him for weapons, including around the ankle... i just don't think so. For it's 200th episode, it was a big let down from the half hour mark to the end.

Overall i liked the episode and Robin Williams, however i totally caught on that Olivia's screams were pre-recorded and wasn't thrilled with the tie-the-shoe-detonate-bomb deal. My favorite part was seeing Munch in the pillow fight!

It's clear to me that whenever RW wants to come back to SVU..... he can!! I thought he was a good villian... he reminds me of Goren's female villian on CI (Olivia d'Abo as Nicole Wallace)

i mostly liked this episode ... i thought Robin Williams was the right amount of creepy (with a slow build-up) and i especially like that, lets face it, he'll be back! cuz i think he hid under the tarp ... not died in the water! i dont agree that he was "weirdly eccentric" ... thats what eccentric means! it worked well when he was his own lawyer, and manipulated all the experts and the jury; but i do agree it was a bit too much to be in one episode, it could've been two hrs

I thought he was brilliant. I also think his performance will garner him a nomination, possibly a win for guest appearance. I did like they showed more of Munch. I also agree with Doug Henning, he is a great villian, snd they left the door open for him to come back.

it was an OK episode. I have seen better ones though. L&O SVU is getting pretty tame, this one had so many unbelievable parts to it. Olivia, willingly leaving with him, not waiting for backup before encountering the suspect. Not doing a background check on the suspect. The bomb itself....usually suspects are searched before cuffed. And then to top it all off....the chase and he disappears and they don't look under the tarp and look helplessly at the calm water of the lake. There would be bubbles and ripples if someone would have entered that lake at a high speed. They would have heard the splashing. I think these writers need to go back on strike so we can get some quality shows.

Jeers to the writing, the situation, and Olivia being a victim... AGAIN!

Cheers to Robin Williams!

Okay, I am probably going to get flamed for this, but here it goes ::deep breath::

I HATED this episode!

Robin did an amazing job! But Olivia the victim, AGAIN?! Seriously?

Elliot and Olivia letting him tie his shoe? No, that wouldn't happen.

We suspend disbelief during television shows, but this episode's premise and subsequent happenings were just too out there even for me!

I didn't care for the episode for most of the same reasons as other posters, the Olivia & Elliot show is getting old & predictable. Also, I have seen Robin Williams give that same performance several times. He does zany or serious/creepy - that seems to be it for his acting. He seemed "too proud" of his performance. Lastly, one of the worst endings I've seen on any show, way way dumbed down - no cop and/or half way intelligent person would have just assumed he jumped in the lake & drowned.

What I found creepy about the episode was the reference to the death of the doctor. The description of the accident, including the decapitation, was eerily similar to the actual death of Jayne Mansfield, mother of Mariska Hargitay. Rumors that Mansfield was decapitated were untrue, but the myth lives on. And I believe that Mariska Hargitay was actually in that car.

In my opinion, Robin Williams stole the show. He is so multi-faceted and it shows. Munch's pillow fight was terrific adding levity to the bizarre story line. It was rather predictable the situation Stabler and Benson would get into, but I enjoy watching them "work" off each other. I liked the episode.

Robin Williams was really good as creepy guy ,but that ending was totally lame. No search, just assume he killed himself. Why would he? We needed Tommy Lee Jones there to search every doghouse, every outhouse.
